The role of an IT administrator is evolving just as dynamically as the entire technology landscape. Not long ago, it was mainly associated with incident response and system installations. Today, it has become a strategically important function within organizations.
From my own experience, an administrator is no longer just an "infrastructure caretaker," but a specialist who actively supports business continuity, anticipates potential risks, and continuously develops the organization's IT environment.
In a world where change is a constant part of the job, administrators combine deep technical expertise with strong collaboration and communication skills, as well as a holistic understanding of complex systems. It is a role that requires continuous learning, openness to change, and a high level of responsibility forming the foundation of both security and smooth business operations.
AI/ML

Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
Artificial intelligence and machine learning remain among the hottest areas in IT. In 2025, the AI/ML category accounted for 4.4% of all job postings, with average salaries reaching PLN 16,400 under employment contracts and PLN 19,500 under B2B arrangements well above the industry average.
What truly sets this category apart are its maximum offered rates: up to PLN 75,000 under employment contracts and a record-breaking PLN 99,490 on B2B contracts, the highest salary ceiling across the entire IT sector. Junior specialists started at PLN 8,300 (UoP) or PLN 9,750 (B2B). Mid-level professionals earned PLN 17,400 / PLN 21,750, while senior specialists reached PLN 23,500 / PLN 27,000 respectively.
Young Al specialists demonstrate particularly high expectations - their salary aspirations exceed job offers by 56.6% under employment contracts, indicating a tendency to overestimate the market value of entry-level skills.
Key competencies in this specialization include Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and strong foundations in mathematics. In 2025, employers particularly sought professionals experienced in large language models (LLMs), generative Al, and production deployment of models. This remains a rapidly evolving field with significant growth potential.

Artificial intelligence is now permeating almost every area of business, which directly translates into growing demand for skilled Al professionals. The market clearly favors Senior and Expert-level candidates who can rapidly design, deploy, and scale solutions based on Al agents, OpenAl models, generative Al, and cloud services.
The paradox is that many candidates are trying to enter this field at the junior level. From a recruitment perspective, soft skills are becoming increasingly important-especially the ability to clearly present complex solutions and collaborate effectively with stakeholders. An additional challenge for employers is the influx of international Al projects, which intensifies competition and pushes compensation levels higher. For Al specialists, however, this creates opportunities to work on innovative, high-impact projects.
Looking ahead, I expect that the focus will shift from simply building models to maintaining, monitoring, and responsibly deploying them at production scale. As a result, demand will continue to grow for experts who combine Al with systems engineering, security, and software quality practices.
Analytics

Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
Data analysts turn raw data into actionable business insights. In 2025, the Analytics category accounted for 5.5% of all IT job postings, with average salaries of PLN 13,515 under employment contracts and PLN 17,220 under B2B arrangements.
The year 2025 proved particularly favorable for this specialization. Salaries under employment contracts increased by an impressive 14.1%, making Analytics one of the fastest-growing categories in the IT sector. Under B2B contracts, pay levels rose by 7.1%.
Junior analysts started at PLN 7,900 (UoP) or PLN 10,080 (B2B). Mid-level professionals earned PLN 14,645 / PLN 19,320, while senior specialists reached PLN 18,000 / PLN 22,260 respectively. Analysts' salary expectations remained relatively realistic: junior specialists expected 26.6% more than current offers, while senior professionals aimed 11.1% above market levels.
Key competencies for data analysts that will remain relevant in 2026 include SQL, Python or R, and data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power Bl. In 2025, employers particularly valued expertise in big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop), cloud analytics platforms (BigQuery, Redshift), and basic machine learning skills. Analytics continues to bridge technical expertise with analytical and business-oriented thinking.

In 2025, the analytics sector is being redefined by a growing demand for stability and more advanced analytical intelligence. The impressive 14% increase in average permanent contract (UoP) salaries clearly highlights a key market trend: organizations are increasingly focused on retaining domain knowledge within their teams, moving away from purely transactional, gig-based data analytics models.
We are witnessing an evolution of the role, from Data Analyst to Al-powered strategist. It is no longer enough to simply visualize what has already happened using SQL or BI tools. Today, the market premium goes to senior professionals who can leverage GenAl tools to predict what will happen next. This shift is reflected in the data: experienced specialists working on B2B contracts achieve real earnings (with a median of around PLN 25,000) that often exceed initial full-time offers.
Looking ahead, the barrier to entry will remain high. Juniors will need to go beyond building basic dashboards, their competitive edge will come from mastering the combination of statistical rigor and Al orchestration to drive accurate, business-critical decisions.
Architecture

Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
IT architects are the strategic minds behind complex technology solutions. In 2025, the Architecture category accounted for nearly 3% of all IT job postings, with an average salary of an impressive PLN 20,264 under employment contracts, ranking third highest in the industry for this type of contract.
The year 2025 brought a 5.3% increase in average salaries under employment contracts. Maximum offered rates reached PLN 52,700 (UoP) and PLN 67,200 (B2B). Notably, junior architects started with the highest junior median salary in the entire industry: PLN 14,000 under employment contracts, reflecting the high entry requirements for this role.
Mid-level architects earned an average of PLN 20,750 (UoP) and PLN 26,500 (B2B), while senior architects reached PLN 26,042 (UoP) or PLN 30,240 (B2B). Actual earnings of mid-level architects often exceeded advertised salaries by 35.9%, suggesting a strong negotiating position.
For aspiring architects, the most important competencies include design patterns, experience across multiple technologies, and systems thinking. In 2025, employers particularly valued expertise in cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and event-driven architecture. Architecture represents the technical career peak and requires many years of experience.

In 2025, salaries in IT architecture saw moderate growth, although still at a slower pace than rising candidate expectations. The average salary on permanent contracts (UoP) increased by 5.27%, from PLN 19,250 to PLN 20,264. At the same time, the gap between advertised and actual pay continues to widen. In the mid-level segment, real salaries are over 35% higher than the ranges stated in job postings, clearly indicating the need to update salary brackets.
Among juniors, we observe the opposite trend: offers are sometimes higher than actual earnings, often due to imprecise role classification and unclear seniority definitions. In the senior segment, salary pressure is growing, particularly for B2B contracts, where candidate expectations increasingly exceed employer offers.
Looking ahead to 2026, further salary growth is expected. To remain competitive, companies should adjust their salary ranges, improve transparency, and expand non-financial benefits as well as flexible cooperation models. Without these changes, the IT architecture job market is likely to become even more demanding for employers.
C

The C programming language is a true classic and a foundation of many modern technologies. In 2025, this category accounted for 1.87% of all job postings, with average salaries of PLN 15,458 under employment contracts and PLN 17,530 under B2B arrangements.
The year 2025 brought a slight 1.9% decline in salaries under both contract types, indicating stabilization rather than growth within this niche. Maximum offered rates reached PLN 36,400 (UoP) and as high as PLN 88,830 (B2B), showing that highly specialized C experts can still command very attractive compensation.
Junior developers started at PLN 9,250 (UoP) or PLN 9,750 (B2B). Mid-level specialists earned PLN 15,000/ PLN 18,900, while senior professionals reached PLN 22,125 / PLN 23,940 respectively.
Community survey data suggests that C developers are relatively realistic in their salary expectations: juniors aimed 13.5% higher than current offers, mid-level specialists 6.7% more, and seniors 13% above market levels.
Key competencies in this specialization include memory management, pointers, multithreading, and operating systems. In 2025, employers were particularly seeking experts in embedded systems, IoT, automotive software, and real-time systems. Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
The DevOps category accounted for 6.53% of all IT job postings in 2025, ranking fourth in terms of overall popularity in the industry. As more companies invest in automation and cloud-based solutions, the role of the DevOps engineer continues to grow in importance.
In terms of compensation, DevOps ranked fifth among the highest-paying specializations across the IT sector, both under employment contracts and B2B arrangements. The average salary for a DevOps Engineer under an employment contract reached PLN 16,717.
Junior specialists earned PLN 9,650, mid-level professionals PLN 17,000, and senior engineers PLN 23,500. Under B2B contracts, compensation was even more competitive, with an average of PLN 19,811. Median pay by experience level stood at PLN 10,788 for juniors, PLN 21,996 for mid-level specialists, and PLN 26,649 for senior professionals.
DevOps engineers demonstrate relatively moderate salary expectations, suggesting a solid understanding of market realities. Under employment contracts, expectations exceed job offers by 3-6%, while under B2B arrangements the range is wider: from just 1% among mid-level specialists to as much as 39% for juniors.
In practice, however, actual earnings for DevOps professionals are typically lower than the figures advertised in job postings, particularly under employment contracts, where the gap reaches 11-15%. This may result from negotiation processes and the final terms of employment.

IT ecosystems are becoming increasingly complex year by year. Delivering a service that goes through the entire SDLC is a major challenge, even for the most experienced development teams. This is where DevOps specialists add real value. By combining expertise from multiple IT domains with strong automation skills and process optimization, they significantly improve delivery efficiency.
As software development requirements continue to grow, demand for DevOps professionals is rising, and will keep rising. At the same time, the need for continuous upskilling means that salary levels follow competency growth. This year, compensation increased by around 5%, up from roughly 2% the year before, despite broader market challenges that have also affected the IT sector.
Not long ago, the main focus was cloud migration. Today, attention has shifted toward maximizing the value of Al technologies and strengthening cybersecurity. DevOps specialists are expanding their skill sets to better support engineering teams in these areas.
DevOps today is a very different field than it was just a few years ago. A well-equipped DevOps team with up-to-date skills can significantly strengthen an organization's competitive advantage not only in software-driven companies. This is precisely why the importance of this role continues to grow, with no signs of this trend slowing down anytime soon.

ERP systems are comprehensive platforms used to manage enterprise resources, from finance and logistics to human resources. ERP specialists combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of business processes, which makes them highly valued on the job market. In 2025, this category accounted for 4.66% of all IT job postings.
While it may appear niche, it offers some of the highest salaries in the industry. The year 2025 was exceptional for ERP professionals. Average salaries increased by 7.3% under employment contracts and by an impressive 14.9% on B2B contracts the highest contract-based growth rate across the entire IT sector. This reflects the rapidly rising demand for ERP consultants driven by digital transformation and migrations to modern systems.

In practice, however, actual earnings are significantly lower than the figures advertised by employers, especially for senior roles (-30.2% on UoP and -32.0% on B2B). This may point to negotiation challenges or a gap between posted salary ranges and real compensation.
So what skills matter for ERP specialists? SAP remains essential, but Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics are also in demand, along with a strong understanding of business processes. The gaming industry is a fascinating space that attracts true enthusiasts, yet it remains highly niche. In 2025, the Game category accounted for just 0.36% of all IT job postings - the lowest share across the entire sector.
Average salaries stood at PLN 13,483 under employment contracts and PLN 14,564 on B2B, making it the lowest-paid category in the IT industry for contract-based roles. The year 2025 brought only modest growth: +0.5% under employment contracts and +7.9% on B2B.
Maximum offered rates reached PLN 30,000 (UoP) and PLN 45,000 (B2B): relatively low compared to other IT specializations. Entry-level salaries in game development remain particularly low. Junior developers earned an average of PLN 4,950 under employment contracts the lowest junior median in the entire industry or PLN 4,442 on B2B.
Mid-level specialists earned PLN 14,000 (UoP) or PLN 15,750 (B2B), while senior developers reached PLN 21,500 (UoP) or PLN 23,500 (B2B). Nevertheless, salary expectations are high. Junior developers expect 31.3% more than what employers are currently offering.

Although this category accounted for just 1.27% of all job postings, average salaries reached a record PLN 22,250 under employment contracts - the highest average in the entire IT industry.
This clearly shows how scarce Go expertise is on the Polish market. The year 2025 was exceptional for Go developers, with salaries increasing by an impressive 35.7%, the largest year-on-year growth across the whole IT sector. Maximum offered rates reached an eye-catching PLN 80,000 under employment contracts, matching the highest salary levels in the industry.
Golang is primarily a language for developers with solid experience. Mid-level specialists earned around PLN 19,500 (UoP) or PLN 20,580 (B2B), while senior developers reached approximately PLN 25,000-26,550, depending on contract type.
It is worth noting that actual earnings of mid-level developers on employment contracts were 38.5% lower than the median advertised in job postings. This may be linked to the fact that many mid-level Go developers transitioned from other languages and are still building their project portfolios in Go. Salary expectations in this category remain relatively moderate, indicating good awareness of market conditions among specialists.

HTML is the starting point of virtually every web development career, but on its own, it is far from sufficient to secure strong earnings in IT. In 2025, this category accounted for just 0.4% of all job postings.
Average salaries reached PLN 11,433 under employment contracts, the second-lowest level in the entire industry, and PLN 13,543 on B2B contracts, which also places HTML near the bottom of the pay ranking. This reflects the reality that HTML rarely appears as a standalone skill.
Employers typically expect a much broader frontend skill set, including CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks. The year 2025 brought modest growth of 1.8% under employment contracts and a strong 13.7% increase on B2B contracts, the second-highest B2B growth rate across the IT sector. This may indicate rising demand for freelancers and remote specialists working on web development projects. Maximum offered rates reached PLN 22,000 (UoP) and PLN 35,532 (B2B).
Salary structures in this category remain relatively flat, meaning earnings increase only slightly with experience. Under employment contracts, junior developers earned around PLN 10,000, mid-level specialists PLN 10,500, and senior professionals PLN 13,800. The limited salary progression with growing experience is particularly noticeable here.
Under B2B contracts, the picture is somewhat better: juniors started at PLN 8,500, mid-level professionals earned PLN 12,180, and senior specialists reached PLN 19,950.

Maximum offered rates climbed to an impressive PLN 80,000 under employment contracts, the highest ceiling in the entire IT industry, matched only by Python and Go. Junior developers earned an average of PLN 8,500 (UoP) or PLN 10,500 (B2B). Mid-level specialists received around PLN 16,100 (UoP) or PLN 20,622 (B2B), while senior developers could expect PLN 23,250 (UoP) or PLN 25,200 (B2B).
Java developers demonstrate a high degree of realism in their salary expectations. Juniors aim for an increase of 17.6%, mid-level professionals 5.6%, and seniors just 5.4%. In practice, however, actual earnings remain 13-20% lower than the medians advertised in job postings. This gap reflects the intense competition within such a popular specialization.

Java remains one of the most popular technologies in IT and one of the most in-demand skills among employers. This strong demand translated into higher salary offers in 2025, particularly for permanent positions. In this segment, pay increased by nearly 9% year over year more than twice the inflation rate.
Candidate expectations almost always exceed actual earnings. Among Java specialists, the biggest gap is visible at the junior level, where salary expectations differ significantly from what companies are prepared to offer. This highlights the mismatch between market realities and the aspirations of less experienced developers.
In the coming years, this trend is likely to ease somewhat thanks to new regulations requiring employers to disclose indicative salary ranges during the recruitment process. For us at dmTECH Polska, however, this is nothing new. We have been recruiting IT experts including Java developers - in line with this transparency standard for over three years.

What competencies should a JavaScript Developer develop to reach the top end of the offered salary ranges?
What skills should a JavaScript Developer build to reach the top end of the salary range? Based on Optiveum's observations, developers targeting the highest pay brackets should focus on developing advanced, in-demand technical skills. A strong command of modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, and Vue is essential, along with solid backend experience in Node.js.
A real competitive edge comes from mastering TypeScript, understanding application architecture, applying design patterns, and working confidently with test automation. These skills signal technical maturity and the ability to build scalable, maintainable products. Equally important is growing expertise in the cloud ecosystem including AWS, GCP, and Azure as well as gaining a practical understanding of DevOps practices that support modern development workflows.
What increasingly sets top earners apart, however, is their smart use of Al tools. Developers who can leverage LLMs for rapid prototyping, refactoring, and automating repetitive tasks work faster and deliver greater value. This efficiency and impact translate directly into stronger negotiating power and better salary offers.

Average salaries reached PLN 14,610 under employment contracts and PLN 17,140 on B2B contracts. The year 2025 brought moderate growth of 3.1% under employment contracts, but also a slight decline of 1.6% on B2B contracts. This points to a degree of stagnation in this category, particularly in the contract segment. Maximum offered rates reached PLN 45,000 (UoP) and PLN 55,000 (B2B).
Junior .NET developers earned an average of PLN 8,250 under employment contracts or PLN 9,000 on B2B. Interestingly, they are highly optimistic about their financial prospects, expecting 27.3% more on employment contracts and as much as 44.4% more on B2B. This reflects the strong aspirations of young professionals entering the market.
Mid-level specialists earned around PLN 15,080 (UoP) or PLN 18,900 (B2B), while senior developers reached PLN 20,500 (UoP) and PLN 23,520 (B2B). Key competencies in this area include C#, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, and proficiency with the Azure cloud platform.
In 2025, employers particularly sought specialists experienced with .NET 8/9, the Blazor framework for web development, microservices architecture in .NET, Docker and Kubernetes, and those skilled in modernizing legacy .NET Framework applications to modern .NET Core solutions.

PHP
Salaries in Category PHP
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
PHP powers a significant portion of the internet from simple business websites to complex e-commerce platforms and content management systems. Despite its widespread use, the category accounted for just 2.19% of all job postings in 2025. Average salaries reached PLN 12,179 under employment contracts, the third-lowest level in the entire IT sector, and PLN 14,185 on B2B contracts.
The year 2025 delivered mixed results: salaries declined by 1.2% under employment contracts, while increasing by 4.3% on B2B. This may suggest that freelance and contract-based PHP developers are faring better than those in permanent roles.
Junior developers in this category started at a very low PLN 5,950 under employment contracts: the second-lowest junior median in the industry, just above Game Development. Mid-level specialists earned PLN 12,000 (UoP) or PLN 14,500 (B2B), while senior developers received approximately PLN 18,588 (UoP) or PLN 20,750 (B2B).
What stands out most are the salary expectations of junior developers. They anticipate 68.1% higher pay than what employers currently offer under employment contracts, the largest gap between expectations and reality across the entire IT sector. Mid-level professionals also show high aspirations (+25%), while seniors remain more realistic (+7.6%).
PHP remains an attractive entry point into web development, thanks to its relatively low barrier to entry and extensive learning resources. However, achieving higher earnings in this technology requires a modern, professional approach and continuous upskilling in line with current industry standards.

Engineering Manager
Centra

PHP remains one of the key languages for building and developing products zwłaszcza in environments where speed of iteration, stability, and long-term scalability matter.
At Centra, we develop our SaaS application primarily in PHP, which is why we truly appreciate the direction this language has taken over the past few years. Recent changes have brought real engineering maturity: cleaner architecture, better performance, and stronger security. All of this has had a huge impact on Developer Experience (DX). Thoughtful improvements have also allowed us to keep our codebase up to date, even when working with legacy systems.
Al is also playing an increasingly important role in our day-to-day work from delegating repetitive tasks, to acting as a sparring partner when solving problems, to faster debugging, improved code reviews, and more efficient documentation.
PM
Salaries in Category PM
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
Project and Product Managers are responsible for planning, executing, and delivering IT projects on time, within scope, and on budget. In 2025, this category accounted for 5.89% of all job postings, placing it in the top 10 most popular roles on the market. Average salaries reached PLN 15,222 under employment contracts and PLN 16,503 on B2B contracts.
The year 2025 was exceptionally strong for PMs. Salaries increased by an impressive 11.5% under employment contracts and 8.0% on B2B among the highest growth rates across the entire IT sector. This reflects the growing appreciation for professional project management in Polish tech companies, which increasingly recognize the value of well-managed projects.
Junior professionals in this role (Assistant Project Managers, Project Coordinators) earned around PLN 10,750 under employment contracts, the highest junior median among all non-technical IT roles. Mid-level specialists received PLN 14,500 (UoP) or PLN 16,800 (B2B), while senior PMs earned PLN 20,417 (UoP) or PLN 23,050 (B2B).
Junior PMs show very high salary expectations, aiming for +25.6% more on employment contracts and as much as +65.6% on B2B. Actual earnings of mid-level PMs often exceeded advertised medians by 17.2%, indicating a strong negotiating position among experienced professionals.
Interestingly, on B2B contracts, juniors earn on average 42.3% above the median offered rates. This may be because many "junior" PMs are actually experienced specialists transitioning from other fields into project management. In 2025, employers particularly valued skills related to Agile at scale, managing distributed teams, leading digital transformation projects, and holding certifications such as PMP or PSM.

Krzysztof Bortnik
Head of Project Management Office
N-iX

Currently Project Manager's role should go beyond the standard understanding of planning tools and demonstrate a deep understanding of a range of new working concepts, automation skills, as well as growing specialisation in Al implementations in daily work. This specialisation may further disrupt established thinking on traditional best practices in project management.
In line with observed trends, there is a noticeable increase in earnings within the project management domain, ranging from 8% to 12% compared to 2024. For junior professionals, it is crucial to understand that entry experience in project management may come with a lower salary than expected, potentially up to 30% below expectations. It should also be noted that the rising demand for Al implementation specialisation provides an opportunity for juniors and medium project managers as new market entrants to quickly adapt to this knowledge domain. This allows them to quickly close the experience gap by focusing on innovative approaches and their project management efficiency.
For senior professionals, the unstable market and numerous distractions favour their position. Employers are striving to minimise the risk of failure and expect stability and confidence in project leadership. This is evidenced by job offers themselves, which largely meet candidates' salary expectations.
Python
Salaries in Category Python
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
Python is one of the most popular and versatile programming languages, valued for its readability and wide range of applications, from web development and automation to data science and Al. In 2025, this category accounted for 5.98% of all job postings, with average salaries of PLN 16,413 under employment contracts and PLN 18,330 on B2B contracts.
The year 2025 brought modest growth: +0.5% on employment contracts and +6.4% on B2B, suggesting a degree of salary stabilization despite Python's massive popularity. Maximum offered rates reached an impressive PLN 80,000 under employment contracts, the highest ceiling in the industry, matched only by Java and Go - and PLN 65,520 on B2B contracts.
Junior developers starting their careers with Python earned around PLN 8,750 (UoP) or PLN 9,750 (B2B). Mid-level specialists received PLN 17,000 (UoP) or PLN 19,740 (B2B), while senior developers reached PLN 23,488 (UoP) and PLN 25,500 (B2B).
Interestingly, junior developers have particularly high salary expectations, aiming for 37.1% more on employment contracts than current offers suggest. For Python developers, clearly defining a specialization path is crucial: web development (Django, Flask, FastAPI), data science and machine learning, automation and DevOps, or general backend development. In 2025, employers especially sought specialists in AI/ML, data engineering, API development, asynchronous Python, and cloud automation.

Karol Dubas
Head of International Recruitment

In 2025, salaries for Python developers were rising, but unevenly across different types of collaboration and seniority levels. In employment contracts, the average offer increase is negligible, while in B2B positions, it's significantly higher (6%), demonstrating where employers are more willing to raise rates.
My advice to juniors is that their initial experience in a specific domain (QA, data, or web) will determine their salary more than the title "Python Developer" itself.
From a recruitment perspective, Python remains an extremely versatile language, used in QA automation, data science, Al, system integration, and web development. Its dominance in Al and data science drives consistent demand - this is where most of our clients are looking today, and where you can expect the highest salaries. This versatility is its strength, stabilizing demand in the labor market, and salary expectations for mid- and senior-level positions are converging with the real ranges, suggesting a maturing market.
Ruby
Salaries in Category Ruby
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
Ruby, especially when paired with the Rails framework, is valued for its elegant syntax and high developer productivity. Despite these advantages, the category accounted for just 0.61% of all job postings in 2025, making it one of the smallest programming language segments on the market. Average salaries reached PLN 16,833 under employment contracts and PLN 16,692 on B2B contracts.
The year 2025 brought mixed results: salaries increased by 9.0% under employment contracts, but declined by 1.8% on B2B. The Ruby developer community remains relatively small, and the limited number of junior-level openings suggests that Ruby is primarily a language for experienced developers or professionals transitioning from other technologies.
Mid-level specialists earned around PLN 17,000, regardless of contract type, while senior developers received PLN 22,500 (UoP) or PLN 24,000 (B2B). Actual earnings, however, were significantly lower than market medians. Mid-level developers earned on average 31.4% less than the median, while seniors earned as much as 51.1% less, the largest gap across the entire IT sector.
At the same time, salary expectations remain very high: senior developers expect 68.2% more than they currently earn, which may reflect frustration with current pay levels. Core competencies in this category include Ruby on Rails, building RESTful APIs, working with PostgreSQL, and strong testing practices (e.g., RSpec). In 2025, employers particularly sought experienced specialists familiar with modern versions of Rails (7/8), Hotwire and Turbo, GraphQL, and those with experience modernizing legacy applications.

Scala
Salaries in Category Scala
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
Scala combines object-oriented and functional programming paradigms and is particularly valued in projects related to big data and distributed systems. Although this category accounted for just 0.4% of all job postings, the second least represented specialization in the industry: it offers some of the highest salaries on the market.
Average pay reached an impressive PLN 22,025 under employment contracts: the second-highest level in the entire IT sector, just behind Go, and PLN 21,487 on B2B contracts. The year 2025 was spectacular for Scala developers. Salaries under employment contracts surged by an extraordinary 58.8%, marking the largest year-on-year increase across the whole IT industry. B2B contracts also performed well, with average growth of 11.4%.
What about experience levels? The very small number of junior-level openings under employment contracts suggests that Scala is primarily a language for experienced developers. Mid-level specialists earned around PLN 18,300 (UoP) or PLN 22,680 (B2B), while senior developers reached PLN 25,750 (UoP) and PLN 27,500 (B2B) the highest senior medians across the entire IT market.
Key competencies in this category include functional programming, in-depth knowledge of the JVM, Apache Spark for big data processing, and reactive programming (Akka). In 2025, employers particularly sought specialists experienced in big data processing, distributed systems, and streaming technologies (Kafka with Scala).

Security
Salaries in Category Security
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
With the growing number of cyberattacks and increasingly sophisticated methods used by cybercriminals, demand for security experts continues to rise. In 2025, this category accounted for 2.75% of all job postings, with average salaries of PLN 16,250 under employment contracts and PLN 20,465 on B2B contracts, ranking third highest in terms of average B2B pay across the entire IT sector.
The year 2025 was particularly favorable for cybersecurity specialists. Salaries increased by 9.1% on employment contracts and 8.9% on B2B, reflecting the growing threat landscape and increasingly strict regulations such as GDPR, NIS2, and DORA. Maximum offered rates reached an impressive PLN 80,000 under employment contracts: the highest ceiling in the industry, on par with Java, Python, and Go.
Junior specialists entering the field earned around PLN 7,500 (UoP) or PLN 12,844 (B2B). Mid-level professionals received PLN 17,000 (UoP) or PLN 21,250 (B2B), while senior experts reached PLN 24,250 (UoP) and PLN 27,300 (B2B).
Junior professionals show very high salary expectations, aiming for 60.0% more than current offers on employment contracts one of the largest gaps in the entire industry. This may reflect an overestimation of entry-level skills, often influenced by the prestige associated with ethical hacking and high-profile security roles. Mid-level and senior specialists, however, tend to be far more realistic in their expectations.
Security is a career path for people who enjoy thinking like attackers in order to defend systems effectively against real threats. In 2025, employers particularly sought specialists in cloud security, application security (SAST/DAST), Security Operations Center (SOC) work, penetration testing, and security automation. Industry certifications such as CEH, OSCP, and CISSP were also highly valued.

Support
Salaries in Category Support
Employment Contract* Salaries listed under UoP are gross amounts, while B2B figures represent net invoice values (excluding VAT).
IT Support professionals provide technical assistance to end users, from troubleshooting computer issues and configuring software to helping with everyday technical tasks. In 2025, this category accounted for 2.42% of all job postings, with average salaries of PLN 11,250 under employment contracts the lowest rate in the entire IT industry, and PLN 12,955 on B2B contracts, also the lowest in the market.
The year 2025 brought a 4.9% decline in salaries under employment contracts: the largest drop across all specializations for this type of contract. The situation was slightly better on B2B, with a 5.1% increase.
Junior support specialists started at PLN 7,500 under both contract types. Mid-level professionals earned just PLN 9,000 (UoP) - the lowest mid-level median in the entire industry, or PLN 12,866 (B2B). Senior specialists could expect PLN 17,250 (UoP) or PLN 18,500 (B2B).
Notably, professionals at all seniority levels in this category earned 16-30% less than what job postings suggested. This highlights strong price pressure and the systematic undervaluation of support roles. IT Support can be a solid entry point into an IT career, but those aiming to significantly increase their earnings should actively develop toward system administration, DevOps, security, ог networking specializations.
Key competencies include strong knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux, basic networking skills, effective troubleshooting, and, crucially, excellent soft skills and communication when working with users.

Testing (QA) is responsible for ensuring software quality before products go live. In 2025, this category accounted for 6.75% of all job postings, ranking fifth in terms of popularity across the IT sector. Despite this strong representation, average salaries reached only PLN 12,250 under employment contracts and PLN 14,863 on B2B, noticeably lower than developer roles.
The year 2025 brought moderate salary growth of 3.2% on both contract types, indicating relative stabilization in this category. Maximum offered rates reached PLN 50,000 (UoP) and PLN 55,000 (B2B).
Junior testers starting their careers earned around PLN 6,750 under employment contracts: the lowest junior median among the top 10 most popular categories, or PLN 8,190 on B2B. Mid-level specialists earned PLN 12,000 (UoP) or PLN 15,400 (B2B), while senior testers reached PLN 18,000 (UoP) and PLN 21,000 (B2B).
Junior testers are highly optimistic about their financial prospects, expecting 40.7% more on employment contracts and 22.1% more on B2B. Mid-level and senior specialists are far more realistic. In practice, actual earnings are 11-16% lower than the medians advertised in job postings (except for entry-level roles), reflecting strong competition in this popular specialization.
To advance their careers and increase earnings, testers are encouraged to specialize in test automation or move toward roles such as SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) or test architect. In 2025, employers particularly sought professionals skilled in automated testing, CI/CD test integration, API testing, performance testing, and shift-left practices. Certifications such as ISTQB also remained highly valued.

Optiveum

Software Tester Competencies for the highest Salary Ranges
Based on Optiveum's observations, testers who reach the top end of the pay scale are distinguished by strong, hands-on technical expertise. A solid command of test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, and Cypress is essential, along with the ability to design and execute API tests using tools like Postman or REST Assured. High earners also tend to have good programming foundations, most often in JavaScript, Python, or Java. CI/CD know-how is becoming increasingly valuable, as is experience with cloud-based tools, particularly in distributed testing environments where scalability and reliability matter.
What truly sets top testers apart, however, is their smart use of Al. From quickly generating test scripts and automation workflows to analyzing results with the support of LLMs (such as those provided by OpenAI), Al is transforming how testing is done. Professionals who successfully blend traditional testing practices with modern Al tools work faster, deliver higher-quality results, and ultimately unlock access to the highest salary brackets.
