Lead Product Manager 

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to join a Drug Innovation Team!

The Lead Product Manager for the Drug Innovation Platform is responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap specifically for R&D Master and Reference Data, as well as Project and Portfolio Management Data solutions within the platform. This role addresses complex challenges and ensures that product delivery aligns with business objectives to enhance overall company performance. The Lead Product Manager will collaborate closely with the Squad and partner with key stakeholders to drive Bayer’s digital transformation and reinforce its position as a leader in digital innovation.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Management:

• Lead the success of the products throughout their lifecycle, from initial conception to decommissioning. Identify domain needs, develop and validate product concepts, and create compelling business cases.

• Oversee product development and launch, ensuring availability, stability, and compliance with all requirements.

• Implement agile best practices to enhance delivery, including continuous planning and co-creating user stories aligned with product backlog prioritization.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Engage with our key stakeholders in the R&D-DSAI organization and manage expectations to deliver products that meet user needs while ensuring value realization for Bayer.

• Build trust and establish long-term business relationships with stakeholders by actively addressing their needs.

Product Strategy:

• Provide strategic leadership and full end-to-end ownership for assigned products throughout their lifecycle.

• Understand and support the Pharma IT and R&D Data Strategy to align with the squads roadmap

• Oversee funding and effectively manage cross-dependencies.

• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate product performance and its contribution to platform objectives.

Product Discovery & Delivery:

• Create comprehensive IT product roadmaps for the Drug Innovation Platform, clarifying user needs and non-functional requirements.

• Utilize Design Thinking methodologies to prioritize problems and validate solutions.

People & Collaboration:

• Coach and guide the squad to efficiently deliver on the quarterly defined outcomes

• Communicate and collaborate proactively with product users and stakeholders, leveraging strong strategic communication skills.

• Help fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the product management community.

• Efficiently allocate resources within the product area and promote collaboration and integration among squads.

WHO YOU ARE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or 4+ years of equivalent practical experience.

• 5+ years of product management experience in IT and/or related Data oriented environment

• 5+ years of experience with Agile development and DevOps.

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from initiation to delivery through influence.

• Experience with Design Thinking, user-centered design, and user analysis.

• Ability to establish and manage initiatives against key metrics and goals.

• Strong analytical, management, and organizational skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in building product vision, strategy, and competitive analysis.

• Proven track record in designing, developing, and delivering digital solutions in a complex global environment.

• Ability to effectively communicate the business value of proposals and deliverables. You have several years of experience with building and operating data platforms

• You have experience in data modeling and architectural design

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken. German is a plus but not mandatory
