Job description

We are looking for a pragmatic and forward-thinking Head of AI to lead our AI strategy and inspire our team. If you’re passionate about applying the latest AI tools to solve real-world problems fast, we want 

to talk to you.

In this role, you will lead a talented team of AI and ML professionals, drive innovation through practical experimentation, and collaborate across the business to turn complex challenges into scalable solutions. Your work will directly impact our clients’ success and help us stay at the forefront of AI adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the company’s AI and machine learning strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.

• Drive our AI initiatives, focusing on rapid client value through the strategic use of off-the-shelf solutions and cloud AI platforms.

• Collaborate with sales and marketing to refine our AI offerings, identify new market opportunities, and support client acquisition and retention.

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, translating their business needs into strategic, high-impact AI solutions.

• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing AI/ML team; foster cross-functional collaboration with Data, Cloud, and Product Design units.

• Oversee end-to-end project execution—from discovery to delivery—ensuring quality, innovation, and speed.

• Stay ahead of the curve on LLMs, generative AI, and related technologies; embed the latest along with well-established capabilities into solutions and strategy.

• Bridge the gap between technical execution and business outcomes by ensuring clarity and alignment across stakeholders.

• Leverage STX’s partnerships to deliver maximum value to our customers.

• Contribute to the company’s thought leadership and strategic direction.

Requirements

• Entrepreneurial Mindset: Strong sense of ownership, ability to spot opportunities, and a bias for action.

• AI Expertise: Deep understanding of LLMs and generative AI tools, with a sharp eye on emerging models and platforms, yet mindful of classic ML approaches where applicable.

• Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to connect technical solutions with business value, and communicate that clearly to diverse audiences.

• Technical Background: Strong grasp of AI/ML architectures, cloud-based deployment, and agentic AI systems. Programming skills (e.g. Python) are a plus, but not a must.

• Team Leadership: Experience growing and leading cross-functional AI/ML teams; strong people management and mentoring capabilities.

• Education: PhD or Master’s degree in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills in English (C1 or higher). Able to simplify the complex and inspire confidence.

• Domain Experience (a plus): Background in verticals such as healthcare, finance, or energy, especially where regulations and data challenges play a key role.
