Platform Engineer with Frontend Focus

Kitopi’s kitchens are powered by its proprietary Smart Kitchen Operating System (SKOS) - an in-house suite of applications that optimizes cloud kitchen operations in the real-time. As part of its growth roadmap, technological innovation, data science, artificial intelligence, and will take center stage as Kitopi continues to reinvent the food industry as we know it today.

We are seeking a skilled Platform Engineer with strong frontend expertise to join our backend-focused team. This role is critical to bridge knowledge gaps in our team and enhance our platform solutions with robust, user-facing interfaces. The ideal candidate is a versatile engineer with a broad technical foundation, ideally holding a university degree in IT or a related field, and a passion for building scalable platform solutions with a focus on independent frontend development. Backend skills, while not required, are a valuable addition, as is experience with AWS, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern cloud concepts. 

The Ideal Candidate: 

• Has at least 5 years of experience in commercial software development, with a focus on frontend technologies. 

• Is a problem solver with a diverse solution toolkit, capable of addressing challenges beyond just code. 

• Communicates effectively, leveraging direct and clear communication for maximum efficiency. 

• Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership, leading problem discovery and delivering impactful solutions. 

• Works autonomously while thriving as a collaborative team player. 

• Feels accountable for deliverables and can justify trade-offs and effort. 

• Has practical experience applying agile methodologies. 

• Identifies as a T-shaped specialist or Product Engineer with a focus on frontend development. 

• Ideally holds a university degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Work in our Tech Hub in Kraków, Poland, playing a key role in enhancing our platform solutions for superior experience and reliability.

• Contribute to building and enhancing our company’s developer portal using Backstage to streamline tools and workflows for our engineering teams. 

• Participate deeply in the platform development process, from collaborating on technical requirements with Product Teams, through implementation and delivery, to supporting solutions in production. 

• Manage your time and priorities autonomously, delivering solutions in iterative, manageable increments. 

• Leverage strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to knowledge sharing, as communication is critical to our team's success and smooth operations. 

• Grow into a Full Stack role with opportunities to deepen your expertise in cloud infrastructure and architecture. 

• Enhance your skills in AI-augmented coding, leveraging our wide portfolio of AI tools used daily to boost productivity and innovation. 

Required Skills and Experience: 

• Solid experience with: 

  • ES2020 or newer 

  • TypeScript

  • React

  • React Testing Library (component/integration testing), and the testing frameworks Jest or Vitest 

  • Tools for building/scaffolding applications, such as Vite or Webpack 

  • Integrating frontend with backend systems using REST/JSON using Axios or Fetch 

  • Proposing visual solutions for given problems using HTML & CSS mockups (basics) 

  • Methodologies and tools supporting software quality (tests, code reviews, CI/CD) 

  • Diagnosing and resolving production issues 

• Good command of written and spoken English (B2 level). 

  
  

Nice-to-Have Skills: 

• Experience with software catalogues like Backstage or similar 

• Experience with backend technologies:

  • Java 17/21 

• Familiarity with cloud and platform technologies: 

  • AWS 

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, GitOps 

• Experience with: 

  • ReactQuery 

  • E2E testing with Playwright
