Job description

Andersen is hiring a Lead DevOps Engineer (Azure) for a project building cloud infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring scalable, reliable environments for developing advanced pricing solutions. 

The customer is an international organization specializing in data-driven advisory and consulting services. It collaborates with a wide range of clients across different industries, helping them address complex business challenges, manage risks, and improve operational efficiency. The company focuses on delivering practical, insight-based solutions to support decision-making and long-term business performance. 

The project is focused on building and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure and tooling to support the development of advanced insurance pricing solutions. It involves enabling agile teams through DevOps practices, improving delivery pipelines, and ensuring scalable, reliable environments for product development. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Working with the DevOps Lead and the wider Engineering Team to help design and implement a highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient platform and to promote best Practices for SDLC. 

  • Debugging tooling and infrastructure issues or performance bottlenecks (3rd line support), and dispatching product-related issues to the teams. 

  • Working with the QA Leads to ensure Azure-based test environments are continuously optimized to execute a high volume of test cases in a fast and cost-efficient way. 

  • Keeping up with the latest industry research and emerging technologies as well as promoting or showcasing internally. 

  • Work within a culture of operational excellence, focusing on appropriate observability tooling (monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, self-healing). 

  • Designing, implementing and documenting test environments and frameworks, assisting in the design and implementation of automated tests. 

  • Participating in scrum meetings as relevant (e.g. sprint demos and retrospectives). 

  • Ensuring compliance and alignment with wider governance policies and standards. 

Must-haves: 

  • Experience in Azure DevOps for 2–4 years, administering CI/CD systems, including creating and maintaining YAML pipelines, building configurations, and release processes. 

  • Experience using Azure Boards for work management. 

  • Experience with Git and GitHub repositories. 

  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (preferred OpenTofu) for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure. 

  • Experience in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python. 

  • Software engineering background with experience in C# or another programming language (e.g. Python). 

  • Understanding of software delivery practices. 

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration using Kubernetes (preferably AKS). 

  • Experience using Helm for package management and deployments. 

  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud, especially PaaS services (App Service, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, Storage). 

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g. Azure Application Insights, Log Analytics, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog or similar). 

  • Experience taking solutions from Proof of Concept to Production following engineering best practices. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design simple and reliable solutions. 

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality. 

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership. 

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional teams. 

  • Level of English - Upper-Intermediate and above. 

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible). 

  • Knowledge of other cloud platforms such as AWS. 

  • Knowledge of other IaC tools, like Pulumi 

  • Understanding Linux operating systems (e.g. Ubuntu/RHEL). 

  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals, protocols, and common services. 

  • Awareness of security best practices, secure coding, and cloud security tooling. 

  • Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker) and broader orchestration platforms. 

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, Angular, React). 

  • Unit testing and mocking frameworks. 

  • Working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams. 

  • Experience within the MLOps space. 

  • Solid experience with AI-assisted tooling in the software development lifecycle (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Azure DevOps Copilot, AI‑driven code completion or documentation tools). 

  • General knowledge of the insurance industry. 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
