Job description
Your responsibilities:
● Lead the technical development of a Word Add-in based on an existing React/Next.js application.
● Use Office.js and related technologies to build and integrate an interactive side panelinto Microsoft Word (Office 365 web and desktop).
● Collaborate with product, UX, and AI teams to adapt the AI assistant's features (e.g.,summarization, rewriting, navigation) into a performant and user-friendly add-inexperience.
● Ensure cross-platform compatibility, responsive design, and secure communication with backend APIs and AI inference services.
● Maintain a modular, testable, and maintainable codebase with an eye for scalability.
● Support the future expansion of the add-in to other Office tools or enterprise contexts as needed.
We are looking for you, if you have:
● A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, HCI, or a related discipline, with 4–7 years of experience in front-end or full-stack development.
● Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with React, Next.js, or similar modern frameworks.
● Experience building Office Add-ins with Office.js and familiarity with the Microsoft 365 platform.
● Strong understanding of DOM manipulation, component-based UI design, and responsive layout techniques.
● Familiarity with asynchronous patterns, secure API integration, and state management approaches such as Redux or Context API.
● A user-centered mindset and experience working closely with design teams to deliver polished, accessible UI experiences.
● Comfort working in cross-functional teams, with strong communication and technical documentation skills.
Ideal Qualifications:
● Exposure to large language model (LLM) applications or familiarity with generative AI capabilities such as summarization, rewriting, or RAG (retrieval augmented generation).
● Experience deploying secure front-end applications in enterprise environments.
● Familiarity with Fluent UI or Microsoft's design language.
● Interest in scientific computing, biomedical research tools, or life sciences workflows.
● Contributions to open-source tools or visible project work (e.g., GitHub, portfolio).
