Job description

About the role

Within the Developer Experience & Enablement Platform Team, we provide the trusted engineering foundation with reliable platform infrastructure, opinionated libraries & tooling, and clear architecture standards.

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help design, build, and operate customer-facing and internal platforms in a React + Node.js microfrontend ecosystem. You’ll be a technical leader within an agile, product-focused team that owns the entire lifecycle of its services - architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and on-call. You’ll collaborate closely with product owners and cross-functional partners to deliver resilient, scalable solutions that move business outcomes.

What is in it for you

Hybrid work

We know life looks a little different for each of us. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome chats about different flexible working options. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, adapting to parenthood, or something else. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

This role requires you to be based in or near Kraków, as you will spend 60% (3 days) of your week collaborating with colleagues at our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely.

Benefits

If you choose to join our business, we will provide you with (for all):

  • Permanent contract from the go – as a sign of our trust in your abilities

  • MacBook as your tool for work

  • Learning opportunities - certified technical training and learning platforms like Udemy, Pluralsight and O’reily

  • Referral Bonus

  • Sports activities with a personal trainer in the office

Benefits for colleagues on employment of contract only:

  • Additional 4 days of paid leave to support your well-being and family life

  • Up to 20% yearly salary bonus – based on both individual and business performance

  • Private healthcare (LuxMed)

  • Cafeteria & Multisport

  • Supporting those, who are not yet eligible for full holiday entitlement, by expanding their pool from 20 to 25 days

  • Relocation Help

  • IP Tax Deductible Costs

If that sounds exciting, then we'd love to hear from you!

Tesco is committed to celebrating diversity and everyone is welcome at Tesco. As a Disability Confident Employer, we’re committed to providing a fully inclusive and accessible recruitment process, allowing candidates the opportunity to thrive and inform us of any reasonable adjustments they may require.

You will be responsible for

• Design & Build:

-Architect and implement React microfrontends with TypeScript and

shared UI libraries.

-Develop Node.js backend services APIs and integrations with data stores

(e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis).

- Champion accessibility, performance (Core Web Vitals), and security

best practices (OWASP).

• Operate & Improve:

-Own services in production with observability-first practices (metrics,

logs, traces), SLOs/SLIs, alerting, and blameless post-mortems.

-Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and remediation;

reduce toil via automation and better design.

• DevOps & Delivery:

-Implement CI/CD with GitHub Actions and GitOps workflows (declarative

manifests, PR-based changes, environment promotions).

-Deploy and run workloads on Kubernetes, manage rollouts, configuration,

and runtime concerns (resource limits, autoscaling, health checks).

• Technical Leadership:

-Lead designs for complex features and cross-cutting platform

capabilities; write RFCs/ADRs and drive consensus.

-Elevate engineering standards via code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and

investing in developer experience/tooling.

-Collaborate closely with Product Owners and stakeholders, translating

product goals into clear technical roadmaps.

• Quality & Security:

-Enforce robust testing strategies (unit, integration, contract, and E2E with

Jest/RTL/Cypress/Playwright).

-Integrate SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, and secure SDLC practices

into pipelines.

You will need

Must-have qualifications

• 5-8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep

proficiency in React, TypeScript, and Node.js.

• Strong grasp of microfrontend architecture, shared libraries, versioning, and

runtime integration patterns.

• Hands-on experience designing scalable, resilient services (caching, API design,

data modeling, reliability patterns).

• Solid understanding of CI/CD, containers, and production operations;

comfortable owning services end-to-end.

• Proficiency with testing at multiple layers and quality gates in pipelines.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with fluent English to partner

closely with Product Owners and non-technical stakeholders.

Good-to-have

• Kubernetes production experience (workloads, services/ingress, HPA, resource

tuning), and GitOps practices with Argo CD.

• GitHub Actions expertise (reusable workflows, environments, OIDC, secrets,

matrix builds).

• Progressive delivery (e.g., Argo Rollouts canary/blue-green).

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP),

networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, ingress).

• Observability stack design (metrics/logs/traces, SLOs, error budgets) and

incident management playbooks.

• Experience with performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and front-end build

pipelines at scale.

Core tech you’ll work with

• Frontend: React, TypeScript, microfrontends, shared component libraries/design

systems, Vite.

• Backend: Node.js (Express) REST, PostgreSQL/Redis

• DevOps/GitOps: GitHub Actions, containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, Argo

CD (app-of-apps, environment promotions), Helm.

• Observability: Prometheus/Grafana, Splunk, xMatters.

• Quality: Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright
