ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Lead ML and AI Engineer to lead a team delivering AI agents and automation solutions across enterprise client environments. This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll split your time between engineering and guiding others, balancing strategic thinking with direct delivery.
You'll work cross-functionally with IT managers and business stakeholders to drive AI adoption, support upskilling, and ensure that the solutions the team builds are reliable, secure, and built to last. Collaboration with infrastructure, security, and application teams is central to how this role operates.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
Team leadership and mentorship
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, maintaining high standards of delivery and supporting the technical growth of everyone on the team.
AI agent and automation development
Design, develop, and deploy AI agents and automation workflows. Stay hands-on across the full solution lifecycle — from architecture through to production.
Maintenance and reliability
Own the reliability, security, and performance of existing AI agents. Identify improvements proactively and drive them to completion.
Cross-functional collaboration
Work closely with IT managers across business units to implement and embed AI in their respective areas. Coordinate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure scalable and secure AI operations.
AI upskilling support
Support IT teams in building AI capability — providing guidance on tools, best practices, and platform usage as they develop their own proficiency.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Production-grade AI delivery experience
A proven track record of delivering production AI or automation solutions — not just research or prototypes — in complex enterprise environments.
Hands-on AI agent and pipeline experience
Strong practical experience building AI agents, pipelines, or automation workflows. You're comfortable getting into the detail when needed.
Strategic and technical balance
Able to think at the system and programme level while remaining close enough to the engineering to maintain quality and credibility with the team.
Clear communication
Able to communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Ownership and reliability mindset
Proactive by nature. You take responsibility for outcomes, not just outputs, and consistently push for improvement in reliability and quality.
THE TEAM
You'll join a specialist Data Science and AI Engineering practice working alongside experienced data scientists, ML engineers, and cloud engineers. The team delivers solutions for large international clients across CPG, retail, and manufacturing. There is a strong knowledge-sharing culture, with internal communities, competency centres, and structured learning programmes built into how the team operates.
