Senior NLP Backend Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a very experienced Back-End Developer to work closely with our CTO on projects related to document data extraction. The person in this role will help improve how our product uses natural language processing (NLP) to understand and extract information from complex legal and financial documents.

This is a senior position for someone with about 15 or more years of experience. The role focuses on text data extraction and NLP. We are especially interested in candidates who show creativity and innovation, for example through leadership roles, founding a company, or being an early technical hire in a fast-growing tech company.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced solutions for document extraction and NLP.

• Work directly with the CTO to plan and build extraction strategies and system architecture.

• Research, test, and implement new ideas for text analysis and structured data extraction.

• Improve system performance so it can scale well and work accurately and efficiently.

• Support and guide other engineers in the team.

• Follow new developments in NLP and apply useful techniques when possible.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of professional experience in software development.

• Strong experience with NLP and text data extraction.

• Deep knowledge of Python and modern back-end frameworks.

• Good understanding of large data systems, APIs, and cloud services.

• Ability to design creative and innovative technical solutions.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience as a co-founder, first technical employee, or early innovator in a technology company.

• Creative use of NLP to solve complex real-world problems.

• Experience with Django, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS.

• Background in legal tech, fintech, or other SaaS industries that work with many documents.
