Job description

We are a software company with a clear goal: to make life easier for busy professional photographers. We are a fully remote team working from 15 countries across 4 continents. Now, we are looking for a new Engineering Manager to join our engineering leadership team.


We want someone who does more than just manage engineers. We are looking for a person who also wants to add real value to our software and help it grow.

Your Role


You will report to the Director of Engineering. You will lead 1–2 independent product teams, with 8–13 engineers in total. The engineers will report directly to you.


Your Main Priorities


  • Reliable Delivery – You help teams deliver value regularly. You are responsible for processes and workflows, and you spot problems early before they slow the team down.

  • Move to AI Tools – You lead our move to an AI-supported development process. You test new tools (like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex), choose what works best, and help the company use them in daily work.

  • Team Health and Growth – You take part in hiring, reviews, and career development. You handle difficult conversations and help people grow in line with company goals.

  • Engineering Metrics – You use data to understand how teams are doing and how to improve, not just to create reports.


How We Work


We release updates every day and work together mainly through Slack.


  • Async-first work – Most communication happens in Slack threads. Meetings are only used when needed. The main shared time is 8–10 a.m. Pacific Time to connect with US leadership.

  • Small and frequent releases – We use simple processes like same-day code reviews, trunk-based development, and easy deployments with feature flags.

  • Learning culture – We provide a Udemy subscription and a budget for AI and developer tools to support learning.

  • AI support – You get a monthly budget for AI tools you like. We also use AI helpers for summaries and data, but people always make the final decisions.

  • Autonomy with clear goals – Teams set their own quarterly goals and choose how to reach them.

Qualifications


Required:


  • Experience managing fully remote engineering teams (at least 2 teams, 10+ engineers).

  • Experience in a SaaS product company with a product-focused approach.

  • Strong technical background and understanding of architecture and trade-offs.

  • Strong people management skills, including hiring, feedback, reviews, and difficult conversations.

  • Organized, self-driven, and reliable.

  • Experience with at least one modern AI development tool.


Nice to Have:


  • Experience introducing AI-based development processes.

  • Experience using engineering metrics in a healthy and useful way.

  • Experience working in small or medium-sized companies with high ownership and low bureaucracy.


Not a Good Fit If:


  • You have no experience managing fully remote teams.

  • You have no real experience with product-led SaaS.

  • You cannot work during the 8–10 a.m. Pacific Time overlap about three days a week.
