what you'll do

📌 Heads up before you apply!This is a project-based recruitment, which means that the contract will be tied to the duration of our collaboration with the client. Once the project ends or the cooperation is terminated, your contract with Merixstudio will also end. We anticipate the project to be long-term - while the initial scope is planned for about 12 months. The recruitment process consists of two stages: 

- the HR + technical interview, which takes around 1,5 hour.- an interview with the client

That said – we’re looking for someone who’s totally not just into quick MVPs but rather enjoys taking technical ownership and continuously improving a complex product. You'll join an agile cross-functional team of Product Owner, Backend Dev, QA, DevOps and Product Designer - so we’re looking for someone independent, and confident in working with legacy code.

You'll work on a web platform for RPG and tabletop gamers - a place where players can organize sessions, track campaigns, and relive their adventures.

Your main focus will be on the frontend (React, Next.js, TypeScript), building new features and refining the existing app, while also contributing to Go-based microservices and AWS infrastructure (DynamoDB, API Gateway, Terraform).

who you are (requirements):

• you have at least 5 years of experience in Web Development with JavaScript / TypeScript

• you have expert knowledge of React and hands-on experience with Next.js (SSR)

• you’re comfortable working with React Query / Tanstack Query, TailwindCSS, and shadcn

• you know how to build and maintain SPA web applications

• you have commercial experience in Go (Golang) - ideally building or maintaining microservices

• you’re familiar with Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon API Gateway, and Terraform-based orchestration

• you know how to ensure application security (OWASP, SAST, Semgrep)

• you have excellent English skills both spoken and written 

• you’re independent, analytical, and take ownership of your work

what we'd like to see:

• experience with Docker / Kubernetes

• understanding of PostgreSQL or PostGIS (geospatial data)

• familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or other monitoring tools

• experience with additional AWS services (EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda)

• ability to use AI coding assistants (e.g. Copilot, Windsurf, Cursor)

• comfort working on both legacy and greenfield projects

• interest in RPG or tabletop games (like Warhammer 40k - always a plus)
