Senior Back-end Engineer (Elixir)

As the Senior Backend Engineer, you will contribute to the technical direction of the livestreaming e-commerce app, balancing rapid innovation with sustainable engineering practices. You will work alongside the client's engineering team to build large systems and projects, coordinate with teams and leads across the organization, while also instigating design discussions to facilitate engineering-wide learning. While you will drive execution for specific projects, you will work cross-functionally to help amplify the engineering team's productivity

Key responsibilities

• Development of livestreaming e-commerce platform
• Make critical technical decisions that impact product scalability and performance
• Where applicable, lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
• Collaborate with leads, product, and other teams to align technical strategy with company goals
• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies

Ideal candidate profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Extensive experience with scalable, distributed systems and real-time technologies
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact projects in fast-paced environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound technical trade-offs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to balance speed with quality, recognizing when to prioritize fast delivery and when to focus on long-term solutions
• Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity in a rapidly evolving environment
• Experience in engineering leadership roles or an aspiration to take on a leadership role in the future
• Passion for mentoring and growing engineering talent
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to think beyond pure technical solutions
• Experience with Elixir is a plus, but not required—willingness to learn on the job
