Project

We are building a fintech platform from the ground up for a financial institution operating in the banking products space. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be part of an infrastructure team responsible for building and maintaining the entire CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and deployment pipeline for a platform serving 9 development squads. This is a greenfield project — you will design and implement the infrastructure from scratch, including cloud environments on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), container orchestration, GitLab-based CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation with Terraform. You will also be expected to design infrastructure architecture at both logical and deployment levels. This is a DevOps role with a DevSecOps mindset — you will work within GCP’s security tooling and practices to ensure the platform is built securely from day one.

Responsibilities you'll have

• Design and build cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) from scratch for the entire fintech platform
  
• Design infrastructure architecture — both logical architecture and deployment architecture — for a multi-squad, cloud-native platform
  
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab for 9 development squads working across backend (Java/Spring) and frontend (Flutter/React) applications
  
• Implement and manage container orchestration using Kubernetes (K8s)
  
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, or scripting — everything should be automated and reproducible
  
• Apply DevSecOps practices within GCP — embed security into infrastructure and deployment workflows using GCP-native security services
  
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance through monitoring, alerting, and incident response tooling
  
• Collaborate with Tech Leads and Delivery Managers to align infrastructure capabilities with delivery timelines and squad needs
  
• Collaborate with Security Engineers to ensure infrastructure meets the project’s security architecture requirements
  
• Support the gradual team ramp-up by ensuring infrastructure scales with the growing number of squads and services
  
• Maintain documentation of infrastructure architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures
  
• Communicate infrastructure status, risks, and decisions in English to project leadership and technical teams

Expected competences and knowledge

• Commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or similar infrastructure role
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and infrastructure
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD — building and maintaining pipelines for multi-team environments
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) — deployment, configuration, troubleshooting
• Experience with automation beyond Terraform — Ansible, scripting (Bash, Python), or similar tools for configuration management and deployment automation
• Experience designing infrastructure architecture — both logical architecture (component relationships, network topology, service boundaries) and deployment architecture (environments, scaling, failover)
• DevSecOps mindset — practical experience applying security practices within GCP and cloud-native deployment workflows.
• Solid understanding of containerization (Docker)
• Fluent English — ability to communicate freely in a professional setting (spoken and written)

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or similar distributed messaging/streaming platforms from an infrastructure perspective
• Familiarity with Java/Spring and Flutter/React build and deployment toolchains
• Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, or similar)
• Prior experience in the financial services or banking domain
• Experience setting up infrastructure for greenfield projects from scratch
• Experience with GitOps workflows and deployment strategies (blue-green, canary)
• GCP Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification or equivalent
