Project

---

We are looking for a Scala Developer to join our team and contribute to an advanced Big Data analysis platform. This project focuses on creating an advanced Big Data analysis platform utilizing Hadoop, Scala/Spark, and HDFS technologies. The platform will manage the extraction, transformation, and analysis of extensive datasets to provide valuable business insights. Our team will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting this platform, as well as producing detailed technical documentation.

 

What you will be doing

• Developing Scala/Spark programs, scripts, and macros for data extraction, transformation and analysis
• Designing and implementing solutions to meet business requirements
• Supporting and maintaining existing Hadoop applications and related technologies
• Developing and maintaining metadata, user access and security controls
• Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including data models, process flows and system diagrams

 

Expected competences and knowledge

• Having 3-5 years of experience in Scala/Spark-related projects or engagements
• Creating Scala/Spark jobs for data transformation and aggregation based on complex business requirements
• Working effectively in a challenging and agile environment with strict deadlines and quick turnaround times
• Performing unit tests for Scala code to ensure quality and functionality
• Raising Pull Requests, triggering builds, and releasing JAR versions for deployment using Jenkins pipelines
• Being familiar with CI/CD concepts and processes
• Conducting peer reviews of the code to ensure adherence to standards and quality
• Performing root cause analysis (RCA) for bugs raised during development or testing
• Having a strong understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem

 

Nice to have

• Holding relevant certifications, such as in Scala, Spark, Hadoop, or Performance
• Possessing knowledge of other programming languages, such as Python or R
• Demonstrating insight into cloud-based solutions, including platforms like Snowflake
• Bringing experience in Financial Services, preferably within the Credit Risk domain
