Lead Data Engineer

Salary: 135 - 160 PLN net/h + VAT on B2B

Work model: elastic hybrid from Gdynia / Gdańsk / Warszawa / Łódź (at least 3 days per week from the office)

Project

We are looking for experienced Data Engineer who will be involved in a financial project focused on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) detection within Capital Markets. The project is built on a greenfield architecture and aims to deliver scalable, high-performance data processing and detection solutions supporting financial crime prevention. You will work on end-to-end data pipelines and detection logic that process large volumes of distributed data, contributing directly to the design, implementation, and optimisation of core AML capabilities. The role offers a high level of ownership, technical influence, and close collaboration within cross-functional Agile teams.

Responsibilities you'll have

• Design, implement, and optimise data pipelines supporting end-to-end Capital Markets AML detection scenarios
• Develop and maintain detection logic, rule frameworks, scoring components, and alerting mechanisms
• Work with large-scale, distributed data using Spark, Spark SQL, and SQL
• Ensure high-quality engineering standards across code, data pipelines, and operational processes
• Contribute to the development of a greenfield architecture, promoting innovation and delivery excellence
• Support non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, and data quality
• Collaborate effectively within Agile, cross-functional teams and work independently in a fast-paced environment

Expected competences and knowledge

• Strong programming skills in Python and Java
• Advanced experience with Apache Spark (PySpark) and Spark SQL for distributed data processing
• Very good knowledge of SQL in large-scale data environments
• Hands-on experience with distributed compute platforms and on-premise cluster environments
• Practical experience with CI/CD tools such as Bamboo, Jenkins, and Bitbucket
• Experience working in Agile teams
• Fluency in English (min. B2)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt quickly
• A proactive, can-do attitude and strong collaboration skills
• Nice-to-have
  • Understanding of Capital Markets products (FX, Equities, Derivatives, Bonds, etc.)
  • Previous experience in Financial Crime, AML, or surveillance systems
  • Experience with automation, including: automated pipeline deployment data validation testing frameworks workflow orchestration
  • Experience integrating solutions with third-party systems
