As a Production Support Engineering Lead – Global Payments (Senior), you will be working for our client within the Payments IT department. The Production Support Team is responsible for technical operations of Global Payments Execution, Messaging & Orchestration, and Sanctions & Investigation services—operating in a mission-critical environment using Site Reliability Engineering disciplines. You’ll help ensure production stability, drive faster incident resolution, and strengthen operational readiness across a breadth of vendor and in-house microservices.
Your main responsibilities:
Provide full-scope day-to-day production support, resolving live incidents and driving post-resolution problem management.
Act as a senior technical expert to investigate and identify root causes of major system problems.
Monitor production health, respond to incidents, and restore service quickly while delivering clear stakeholder updates.
Operate and troubleshoot Linux environments, including patching, configuration, performance tuning, capacity management, certificate and connectivity handling.
Support Oracle Database operations in partnership with DBAs, including monitoring, resolving locks/performance issues, and managing backups and recovery readiness.
Run and troubleshoot containerised workloads on Kubernetes, covering deployments, scaling, cluster/node health, configuration/secrets, and service-to-service networking issues.
Automate and simplify operational processes to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.
Ensure production readiness for releases by validating operational acceptance criteria and supporting controlled deployments and rollbacks, while maintaining accurate documentation and runbooks.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
At least 5 years of experience in production support/operations or a related engineering role.
Fluent English for excellent spoken and written communication across a global organization.
Experience with SQL and PL/SQL.
Strong Linux experience (administration, troubleshooting, and operational tuning).
Knowledge of Kubernetes for troubleshooting and operational support.
A strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and components.
Hands-on scripting experience for automation (at least one of: Bash, Python, or Java).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including triage capability under pressure and sound priority judgment at runtime.
It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)
Experience with Python or Java (beyond scripting needs).
Knowledge of Puppet/Ansible or similar configuration management tools.
Experience supporting Payments services (advantage).
