    Job description

    About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

As a Technical Program Manager, you'll play a critical role in expanding our Shopping Metrics and Exporting Platform (SMEP) by helping to drive large-scale data engineering projects. You'll be the key link between our data engineering team and stakeholders across the company who rely on the SMEP platform. You will focus on clear communication, building consensus, and ensuring data is delivered reliably.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the full life-cycle of programs, encompassing planning, execution, and delivery.
    • Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to triage technical problems and assess their impact.
    • Develop and execute project plans, managing program timelines and tracking progress against key metrics.
    • Define program scope, goals, and success metrics, and work with stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities.
    • Facilitate effective communication across teams and stakeholders by tailoring communication style to the audience.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
    • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
    • Experience in the space of Data Engineering and Data Governance.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience in managing complex projects that span multiple stakeholders and with tight deadlines.
    • Experience working with a globally distributed, cross-functional professional team.
    • Experience in stakeholder management with executive leads across the company.
    • Ability to work effectively with highly technical engineering teams across multiple organizations.
    • Excellent collaboration, information gathering, strategic decision making, and influencing skills.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

    Benefits:

    • Health and Wellbeing (Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents)
    • Financial wellbeing (Competitive compensation, regular bonus and equity refresh opportunities)
    • Flexibility and time off (Paid time off, including vacation, bereavement, jury duty, sick leave, parental leave, disability, and holidays)
    • Family support and care (Fertility and growing family support, parental leave and baby bonding leave)
    • Community and personal development (Educational reimbursement)
    • Googley extras (Inspiring spaces to work, recharge, and collaborate with fellow Googlers)
