Senior Data Engineer (MS Fabric)

As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a collaborative and agile environment where your insights and expertise will help shape business decisions. You will work with data in Microsoft Fabric and related Azure services to prepare, transform, and analyze information for reporting purposes, primarily using Power BI. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, Data Analysts, and Architects, to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable reports and dashboards. Where needed, you may also support data ingestion and transformation pipelines to ensure data is ready for analysis. This is a hybrid role, which means we'd like you to work in the office occasionally, especially during client visits or other important company meetings.

Project Tech Stack
Programming / Query Languages: SQL (advanced), basic Python (for data manipulation and automation)
Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Fabric, Azure (Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL Database, MS SQL Server)
Data Preparation & Transformation: Microsoft Fabric Dataflows & Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, Power Query, Spark; basic familiarity with dbt or similar tools is a plus

Responsibilities
Prepare, transform, and model data within Microsoft Fabric to support reporting and analytics needs
Design and build Power BI reports and dashboards that deliver clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders
Collaborate with Data Analysts, Architects, and business teams to define data requirements and ensure data is ready for analysis
Perform data validation, quality checks, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports
Where required, create and maintain simple data pipelines or ingestion processes to bring data into Fabric for reporting purposes
Participate in discussions on data architecture and reporting solutions to ensure scalability, performance, and best practices
Maintain compliance with security, integrity, and governance standards for all reporting data
Continuously improve report performance, usability, and user adoption through feedback and iteration
Requirements
Must have:
At least one year of experience working with Microsoft Fabric for data ingestion and transformation
Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and preparing data for reporting and analytics
At least 3 years of experience in Python
Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and validating data accuracy
Proficiency in Power BI, including data transformation (Power Query), DAX, and report/dashboard design best practices
Knowledge of data security, privacy, and governance best practices (e.g., RBAC, data lineage, GDPR)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in cross-functional teams
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable insights
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Nice to have:
Databricks, familiarity with Delta Lake / Medallion Architecture
Monitoring/logging tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics)
