Junior Data Engineer

For our Swiss Digitalization Team we are looking for two permanent positions with immediate effect.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Design, development, and optimization of ETL and ELT processes in the Azure Synapse Cloud environment ( including data pipelines, dataflows, using SQL).
2. Building and maintaining robust data models and datamarts for various stakeholders and applications.
3. Monitoring , validation, and troubleshooting of data processes and pipelines.
4. Contribution to the design and development of a cloud-based data architecture (e.g. Data Lakehouse, Delta Lake).
5. Supporting the DevOps cycle: development, testing, and deployment (e.g. using Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD).

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business intelligence tasks such as reporting in Power BI are not a core part of this role, but can be taken on optionally by those interested in expanding their skill set. Experience in data analysis and Power BI is beneficial. However, if you do not yet have this experience, we welcome your motivation to grow into these areas.

1. Analysis and evaluation of data as well as preparation of the results in meaningful reports and dashboards in PowerBi, Excel and other tools.
2. Support and Management of the Dev to Prod Release cycle in the PBI environment.
3. Ensuring data and IT security as well as compliance with legal requirements (DSG/DSGVO).
4. Documentation and monitoring of processes for continuous improvement.

THE PROFILE:

1. Completed training in the field of digitization or a degree in a related IT field.
2. In-depth SQL knowledge as well as experience in data integration and transformation.
3. Experience working with and managing ETL (extraction, transformation, and loading) processes.
4. Analytical skills to evaluate and structure complex processes.
5. Independent and goal-oriented way of working with a high level of customer and service orientation.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and strong communication skills.
7. Knowledge of JavaScript and Visual Basic is an advantage, but not mandatory.
8. Knowledge of Python or other language is an advantage.
9. Experience in data analysis and with Power BI is an advantage. If such experience is lacking, a strong willingness to acquire these skills is expected.
