About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Engineer to architect, develop, and optimize large‑scale data pipelines and systems. This role involves leading engineering initiatives, setting technical standards, and driving data excellence across the organisation. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for building reliable, scalable, and secure data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of robust, scalable, and high‑performance data pipelines capable of ingesting, transforming, and analysing large volumes of structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.

• Drive improvements in data quality, governance, and security, ensuring alignment with organisational guidelines and industry best practices.

• Prioritise stakeholder requirements and identify optimal solutions to ensure timely and effective delivery.

• Lead the development of automation workflows, including monitoring, alerting, and operational tooling.

• Mentor and support team members, collaborating with cross‑disciplinary partners to maximise the organisation’s ability to create value from data.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards for coding, testing, documentation, and operational excellence.

• Lead the development and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures in accordance with organisational requirements.

• Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and platform updates, providing informed recommendations based on deep domain knowledge.

• Proven experience in architecting complex data pipelines and large‑scale data systems.

• Strong leadership abilities with experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical direction.

• Expertise in data governance, data quality processes, and secure data architecture.

• Solid understanding of automation, observability, and operational best practices.

• Ability to collaborate closely with stakeholders and translate business needs into engineering solutions.

• Deep familiarity with modern data engineering standards, testing methodologies, and system reliability practices.

• Strategic mindset with the ability to evaluate new technologies and drive innovation.
