About the role
As a member of the team, you will be the initial point of contact for all firewall-related incidents, tickets, and inquiries. You will respond to tickets from application owners, analyze requirements, and design/build firewall policies to ensure secure and efficient network access. This position requires a solid understanding of networking and security principles, as well as a customer-centric approach to quickly address stakeholder needs.
The team is responsible for managing various security devices, applications, information and is expected to monitor and manage devices and applications such as proxy, firewall change assurance, IPS/IDS, and DDoS.
How you will get the job done
being the initial point of contact for all firewall-related requests, incidents, and inquiries from application owners
ensuring application teams feel supported and informed about Security processes
monitoring and troubleshooting network security appliances
working within established configuration and changing management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to network infrastructure
performing other tasks entrusted by superiors, within the scope of the position, and possessed competences
documenting changes, troubleshooting steps, and lessons learned to strengthen team knowledge
following established workflows while continuously identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
maintaining a high level of accuracy, especially when implementing changes in production environments
keeping up with emerging threats, vendor updates, and evolving network architectures
adapting quickly to shifting priorities, urgent incidents, or new security requirements
contributing to a culture of continuous improvement within the security operations team
Skills and experience you will need
fluent spoken and written English
min. 3 years of hands-on experience in network security or firewall engineering
familiarity with change management processes and ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow)
in-depth understanding of Network Security technologies (FW, IDS/IPS, DLP, SASE/SSE) and associated principal vendors (Cisco, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Zscaler)
broad range of understanding of ITIL, ITSM and industry best practices
ability to grasp complex technical concepts rapidly and to rate their potential against real business requirements
proficiency in configuring and managing firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet, Check Point)
strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS) and security concepts
Technology we use
experience with IDS/IPS, VPN, proxy, or related security technologies
certifications such as CISSP, Security+
familiarity with scripting or automation for network security tasks (Python, Ansible)
