SEPA Product Owner

We are seeking an experienced SEPA Product Owner to join a high-profile European Payments team within Global Payments Solutions technology and business transformation. This role sits at the intersection of business, technology, and regulatory change, supporting strategic simplification programmes and major European payments initiatives. The team operates across Ireland, the UK, Poland, and Edinburgh, with a strong focus on delivering scalable, compliant, and modernized payments capabilities across SEPA and wider European payment schemes.

Main Responsibilities

• Own and drive SEPA payment product initiatives across regulatory and strategic change programmes.

• Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology delivery teams.

• Define product requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and delivery priorities.

• Support delivery across major European payments and regulatory initiatives including:

  • Instant Payments Regulation (IPR)

  • NPV-related change initiatives

  • Payment Services Regulation / PSD evolution

• Work closely with GPS IT and senior business stakeholders to support roadmap execution and change delivery.

• Drive simplification and modernization initiatives across payments infrastructure and customer journeys.

• Support Agile delivery practices including backlog management, prioritization, sprint planning, and stakeholder engagement.

• Ensure SEPA scheme compliance and alignment with evolving European payments standards.

• Contribute to strategic discussions around payments modernization, operational resilience, and future-state payment capabilities.

Key Requirements

• Strong Product Owner or Product Specialist background within Payments.

• Deep understanding of SEPA payments and European payment schemes.

• Experience delivering regulatory-driven change within banking or financial services.

• Strong knowledge of payments processing, clearing, settlement, and scheme rules.

• Experience working across business and technology teams in complex enterprise environments.

• Proven experience defining requirements and managing delivery in Agile environments.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and operate within large-scale transformation programmes.
