Introduction & Summary: The Operational Security Officer plays a crucial role in enhancing the security posture of the organization’s IT infrastructure, specifically focusing on IBM Mainframe Z Series technology. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in IT security operations, with proven expertise in managing security for IBM Mainframe systems.

Main Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular security assessments of the IBM Mainframe Z Series infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities.
• Implement and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with legal requirements.
• Perform detailed assessments of security configurations across operating systems and infrastructure components.
• Coordinate incident response and investigations related to security threats.
• Provide specific security guidance and support for IBM Mainframe Z Series to internal teams.
• Implement security controls for new systems and projects.
• Contribute to IBM Mainframe Z Series-specific security awareness training.
• Proactively identify security threats and recommend mitigations.
• Stay updated on security threats related to IBM Mainframe Z Series and suggest improvements to security posture.

Key Requirements:

• Proven expertise in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years of IT security operations experience, specifically with IBM Mainframe Z Series.
• Familiarity with IBM Mainframe security tools (RACF, zSecure, Syslog, etc.).
• Knowledge of IBM Mainframe security standards (z/OS Security, RACF, zSecure).
• Experience in generating RACF reports using zSecure.
• Proficiency in SSO, Active Directory, LDAP, PKI, and digital certificates.
• Understanding of IBM Mainframe-specific network protocols and operating systems.

Nice to Have:

• USS expertise is highly desired.
• Relevant security certifications such as IBM Certified Administrator - Security z/OS.
