About the Role

We are looking for an API Management & Governance Architect to lead the development and evolution of enterprise-wide API governance and platform strategy.

This role focuses on strengthening governance across internal, partner, and public APIs, ensuring consistency, scalability, and security across the organisation’s integration ecosystem.

You will play a key role in consolidating multiple API management platforms into a unified strategic platform, guiding migrations of existing APIs, customer integrations, and business flows while ensuring platform stability throughout the transition.

The role requires close collaboration with Enterprise Architecture teams, platform teams, and engineering teams across multiple countries and domains.

The role is delivered for one of our clients in the logistics industry, where you will support the integration of complex enterprise environments following acquisitions and large-scale platform transformations.

Responsibilities

• Define and operationalize the enterprise API governance framework.

• Review, evaluate and refine API standards for:

  • Internal APIs.

  • Partner APIs.

• Lead consolidation of multiple API management platforms into a unified strategic platform.

• Design and guide migration of existing APIs, customer integrations, and business flows to the target platform.

• Ensure continuity and stability during platform transitions.

• Define API lifecycle management processes including:

  • Versioning strategies.

  • Documentation standards.

  • Deprecation policies.

• Strengthen API security standards aligned with Zero Trust principles.

• Ensure consistent platform usage across development teams.

• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and platform teams to ensure architectural alignment.

Requirements

• 10+ years of API architecture and API management experience.

• Demonstrated experience consolidating or migrating API management platforms.

• Hands-on experience with IBM API Connect.

• Experience with at least one additional API platform:

  • MuleSoft.

  • Axway.

• Experience migrating APIs, customer integrations, or business flows between platforms.

• Strong knowledge of:

  • OAuth2.

  • OIDC.

  • Token-based authentication.

  • API lifecycle management principles.

  • Zero Trust security principles.

• Strong documentation and governance experience.

• Comfortable operating across multiple teams and international environments.

• Strong English communication skills.

• Experience within logistics, transport, or supply chain environments.

• Experience working in large enterprise integration environments.

• Experience driving adoption of governance standards across development teams.

• Experience working in global, cross-cultural engineering organisations.
