Data Engineer

Client: specialises in providing high-quality global geospatial and POI (Point of Interest) datasets, enriched with advanced machine learning to enable smarter business decisions. Their solutions cover mobility insights, audience segmentation, catchment and foot-traffic analysis across industries such as retail, AdTech/MarTech, FMCG, consulting and market research.

Position: Data Engineer

Location: 100% Remote

Employment Type: B2B - Full-time

Required Technical Skills:

• Very good knowledge of Apache Spark and PySpark, including performance optimization and tuning.

• Experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT processes and large Data Lakes.

• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially:

  • BigQuery

  • DataProc (Spark)

  • Iceberg

  • Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud Monitoring

• Experience in ensuring Data Quality, including:

  • data testing and validation

  • anonymization, cleaning, and data transformation

• Ability to diagnose and resolve data pipeline issues (troubleshooting, maintenance).

• Experience in performance optimization and managing data reliability and consistency.

• Knowledge of Python for data engineering and automation.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in building test data sets.

• Knowledge of OpenAPI standard.

• Writing automated tests.

• Experience with Apache Sedona.

• Proactive approach to identifying and solving data issues.

Education & Experience:

• Higher education (preferred fields: computer science, mathematics, data analysis or related).

• Experience working as a Data Engineer or in a related role (e.g., Data QA Engineer, ETL Developer).
