The Network Security SME will be a key contributor within the Cybersecurity Technology Engineering function, supporting the protection of the organization’s information assets, network infrastructure, and overall security posture. This role is suited for an experienced network security professional who operates effectively in a complex, regulated environment and is motivated to influence security strategy, strengthen network security controls, and play a meaningful role in protecting critical digital assets while shaping and evolving cybersecurity practices across a large, global organization.
Key Responsibilities
Drive and support strategic initiatives to enhance network security and resilience, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on network and cybersecurity strategy.
Own, maintain, and review security architecture and design documentation, conducting in-depth, risk-based assessments of network designs, firewall configurations, and security rulesets.
Identify security gaps and weaknesses and contribute to the development and execution of effective remediation plans.
Provide expert-level technical guidance on complex network security solutions, cryptography, and data protection initiatives, ensuring alignment with global cybersecurity standards and best practices.
Lead or support security risk assessments and risk treatment activities, working closely with business and technology teams as part of the first line of defence (1LOD) to maintain visibility of security risks and control effectiveness.
Collaborate with regional and global cybersecurity stakeholders to address emerging threats and security concerns.
Stay up to date with relevant security frameworks, standards, technologies, and industry trends, contributing to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor and support junior team members by providing technical leadership, guidance, and knowledge sharing.
Skills and Experience
Strong understanding of network security controls and current cybersecurity threats and trends.
Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and proxy solutions.
Deep knowledge of network protocols (e.g. TCP, UDP, DNS) and network traffic analysis tools.
Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is an advantage.
Proven ability to produce clear, structured reports with actionable findings and strategic recommendations.
Background in IT or cybersecurity roles, ideally within a regulated or financial services environment.
Advanced industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
