Java Developer
Andersen is hiring a Java Developer to work on a scalable Atlassian platform for a health-tech company, focusing on automation, integrations, and secure, high-performance solutions.
The customer is a fast-growing health-tech company focused on transforming care delivery for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The customer has achieved significant milestones, including SOC 2 Type II certification, and supports a large network of practitioners and clients through secure, scalable platforms. Their mission-driven approach combines innovation, security, and a commitment to better outcomes across the behavioral healthcare continuum.
The project is focused on designing, evolving, and operating a scalable Atlassian platform ecosystem. It covers architecture ownership and development across Jira Service Management, Jira Software, Confluence, and Assets, including workflow automation, ITSM processes, third-party integrations, scripting, and AI-driven enhancements, with a strong emphasis on performance, security, compliance, and user-centered solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Atlassian solutions across Jira Service Management, Jira Software, Confluence, and Assets.
- Acting as the Atlassian platform architect, ensuring best practices for performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Leading platform architecture decisions, documenting standards, patterns, and guardrails.
- Building and optimizing workflows, automations, SLAs, request types, forms, queues, and ITSM processes.
- Implementing and supporting integrations with third-party systems (e.g., identity providers, asset, monitoring, and HR systems).
- Leveraging AI-driven capabilities (including Rovo Agents) to enhance automation, insights, and decision-making.
- Using scripting and APIs (Forge, REST, Groovy/ScriptRunner) to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Translating business needs into intuitive, user-centered technical solutions in close partnership with stakeholders.
- Architecting and improving Jira Service Management capabilities (incident, request, problem, change, CMDB, assets).
- Improving service ownership, visibility, reporting, and dashboards.
- Acting as the primary Atlassian SME and escalation point for complex platform issues.
- Ensuring security, compliance, access control, and audit readiness across the Atlassian ecosystem.
- Providing guidance, coaching, and enablement to administrators, developers, and support teams.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and platform roadmaps.
Must-haves:
- Experience as a Java Developer for 4+ years.
- Experience administering and developing within the Atlassian ecosystem.
- Experience with hands-on work in Jira Service Management (requests, SLAs, automation, Assets).
- Experience designing and implementing complex workflows, automations, and integrations.
- Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into scalable technical
solutions.
- Expertise in Jira Service Management, Jira Software, Confluence, and Assets.
- Strong architectural thinking and the ability to design scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Strong understanding of service management principles and workflow design.
- Ability to balance hands-on delivery with strategic planning.
- Proven ownership, follow-through, and accountability.
- Level of English – from Upper-Intermediate and above.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience acting as a platform SME or technical lead.
- Knowledge in leveraging AI features within Atlassian, including building AI Rovo Agents and implementing intelligent automations.
- Experience with Atlassian Forge, REST APIs, or ScriptRunner.
- Experience architecting enterprise service management solutions.
- Experience leading or influencing platform strategy and governance.
- Experience supporting multi-team, multi-project Atlassian environments.
- Scripting or development experience (Forge, JavaScript, Groovy).
- Familiarity with ITIL practices and service maturity models.
- Experience administering and developing within the Atlassian ecosystem.
- Experience with hands-on work in Jira Service Management (requests, SLAs, automation, Assets).
- Experience integrating Atlassian tools with identity, Asset, or monitoring systems.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and platform capabilities.
