Rust Tech Lead (pharma - fully remote)

About the roleWe are looking for a highly experienced Rust Tech Lead to join a large-scale Agile program developing a next‑generation molecular diagnostic platform. You will work within a SAFe Agile Release Train, contributing to a distributed, event‑driven microservice ecosystem built on DDD, the Actor Model, and event‑sourcing. This is a senior leadership role in a cross‑functional team, collaborating closely with architects and engineering stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

• Set and uphold coding standards, architectural principles, and engineering best practices for the Rust development team.

• Collaborate with system architects to refine and evolve the system architecture for scalability and alignment across teams.

• Ensure all code adheres to defined standards, architecture, and quality requirements.

• Participate in PI Planning (every 8–12 weeks): capacity estimation, dependency identification, and commitment to objectives.

• Lead execution during 2‑week iterations: planning, stand‑ups, reviews, and backlog refinement.

• Drive Built‑In Quality through TDD/BDD, peer reviews, and robust automated testing.

• Support continuous integration with other teams to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth delivery for bi‑weekly system demos.

Required technical skills

• Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role.

• Advanced proficiency in Rust (Rust Foundation / Advanced level).

• Strong background in React and modern web development.

• Expertise in API design, system integration, and Kubernetes.

• Solid understanding of design patterns and advanced algorithms.

• Hands-on experience with DDD, event-sourcing architectures, and distributed systems.

• Daily use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).

• Strong experience in automated testing, both UI and backend–frontend integration.

Nice to have

• Experience with Event Store.

• WebAssembly-based application development.

• SAFe certifications (e.g., Agile Software Engineering, Architects, Practitioner).

Required soft skills

• English proficiency at C1+ level.

• Collaborative mindset, curiosity for the full product lifecycle, and strong alignment-seeking approach.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to advocate for technical standards.
