Job description

Online interview
As a Service Mesh Engineer you will be a part of new System Libraries Team. The team will be focused on building the framework that powers backend microservices at Sumo Logic -  all the bits that make it easy to write and manage microservices at scale. This team will engage with and impact all other Sumo Engineering teams.

What you’ll be working on:

  • Research and integrate open source service mesh, migrating away from Sumo Logic’s internal implementation. 
  • Optimize and modernize Sumo Logic’s proprietary dynamic workload sharding framework - to meet the increasing scale of the business.
  • Enable polyglot service integrations for past and future acquisitions. 
  • Develop solutions for detecting service failures and automating remediation.

Your experience and skills include:

  • B.S. or higher in Computer Sciences or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership and delivery.
  • Ability to code proficiently in at least one mainstream programming language (e.g., Java, Scala, Python, Go, etc.).
  • Strong Experience with Service Mesh solutions.
  • Experience with data serialization frameworks such as AVRO and/or GRPC.
  • Experience in running large scalable distributed services following a microservice architecture.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise wide solutions based on Java Technologies (Java, J2EE, Web Services).
  • Experience with cloud native environments built on public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Demonstrated implementation of high-availability concepts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
