About the product

Tv.nu is one of Sweden’s most well-known digital brands and has historically been a guide to the traditional way of watching television. In 2015, the company took a new and big step with the ambition to also guide to all the streaming providers. The entire platform was renewed and a new streaming guide was added into the product with content from the biggest streaming providers in Sweden, such as Netflix, HBO Nordic, SVT Play etc. This made tv.nu completely unique on the Swedish market, since there is no other service that gathers all content from both traditional TV and streaming, and now we are continuing our rapid user driven product development – since the end of 2018 we are also present at Norwegian market. Today tv.nu has 2.4 million unique users per week.

About the team

Now we are facing several exciting challenges like expanding to new markets, finding more strategic partners and guiding our users in the streaming jungle in new ways. Our ambition is to replace the remote control in a modern digital home. Moving there we work close together with designers, UX and engineers with different skill sets. Today we are 10 developers delivering a high-end product by:

Skills and requirements

Our tech stack is built upon modern technologies and architecture like microservices in PHP (we use Silex but plan to migrate to a different framework, potentially Slim), Node.js, React, Swift and Kotlin. This role as backend developer emphasizes our backend based on following technologies that we expect you to know to some extent:

Learning new technologies is as natural for you as evolution proceeds. As important as your will and curiosity to learn is your will to share and enthusiasm about your knowledge. You like to discuss different solutions for both technical, product, organizational and business specific challenges. You are the pragmatic programmer – you understand that the perfect technical solution in some cases have to stand back for the business – even if your role of course will be to advocate for the technical.
