SVIP is today serving VGTV – Norway’s biggest web-tv channel with half a million daily viewers with 350 million video plays a year.


🔷 ABOUT THE TEAM

  • SVIP caters for VGTV original shows, a library of over 400 documentaries, premium sport live streams and 24/7 news and sports coverage. We have recently expanded the platform to Aftonbladet TV, and established a common team with VG and Aftonbladet, in a joint effort to create the video portal for the future!
  • We’re a growing team of developers working at the Kraków office (looking for you to join us there) and Oslo where our product manager and designer are. 
  • The product is based in Oslo (VG) and Stockholm (Aftonbladet). 
  • We enjoy the alternative coffee during our frequent chats about tech-related stuff.

🔷 ABOUT THE ROLE

  • The SVIP platform has recently been rebuilt from the ground up, so you will come to a brand new and modern product that is carefully put together based on everything we have learned – successes and failures – from the last years to create a great product.
  • Our challenge is to continue on the great work and effort that has been put into the product and elevate it even further, to create a top tier video portal, serving the needs from the brands and most importantly our users.
  • Previous work with video or video platforms is no requirement, but passion for online video is definitely something we are looking for. 
  • SVIP works in close collaboration with Stream team which is Schibsted Media’s central platform for delivering video content that covers all parts of video workflow within media houses – from transcoding and ingesting live video, through enhancing video metadata, to playback and monetization.

  • You know how to write and use RESTful services.
  • You’re willing to learn NodeJs (or know it already :)).
  • You’re a motivated person.
  • You like to chat about tech, also the parts that are not directly connected to your experience [we are a team of passionate people and we love to speak about technology for example during our morning coffee routine].
  • You’re comfortable writing javascript code regardless of whether that’s vanillaJS, React or node.
  • You find code reviews not only a tool for improving code quality but also for teaching and learning.
  • You like to work with tested code.
  • You’re not afraid of TypeScript [seriously it’s not as black as it is painted :)].
  • You are open to a feedback culture.
