Job description

Online interview
We are looking for an experienced Cloud Product Engineer for our team at Navigance - a corporate startup and wholly owned subsidiary of Clariant.

The Navigance solution is a cloud-based service providing insights into chemical production process data. Our products support the plant personnel in making the production process as efficient as possible and to maximize the plant availability. This results in a lowered consumption of natural resources and energy, and further to a reduction of our customers' greenhouse gas emissions.

We collect production process sensor data from our customers, which are spread all over the globe, and apply machine learning methods and chemical domain expert knowledge to it. We visualize the outcome in our cloud service, empower our users through specialized data exploration functionality and provide a communication platform for our customers and our technical experts.

How we work

Our platform engineering team has been working 100% remotely, already since the inception of the project in pre-COVID times, and is structured with a "remote-first" assumption in mind. Direct, open communication and a solution-oriented mindset is essential for all of our team members.

Since the product and the data science teams are located in Germany, we regularly organize in-person gatherings & workshops, whenever needed, e.g. when an important new engineering subject needs to be discussed. These meetings usually take place in either Tricity, where the majority of the engineering team is currently located, or in Munich. Currently we conduct these meetings virtually, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • a track record of full-stack or DevOps roles
  • a solution-oriented mindset, in a small team context in particular
  • experience with Amazon Web Services, or one of the leading cloud platforms
  • experience building infrastructure as code using Terraform, or a similar tool
  • experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • experience with continuous delivery as a leading principle in the build pipeline
  • experience and/or willingness to code in Python
  • Apache Airflow experience, as a nice addition
  • the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and a goal-driven attitude
  • a good understanding of Agile principles (Scrum, Kanban).
  • English-skills, good enough to be comfortable with using English as the primary business language

What we offer:

  • a quickly developing project in the unique domain of chemical engineering,
  • ability to impact all aspects of the software delivery process and the architecture,
  • a relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a "corporate startup",
  • a competitive salary in EUR (B2B)
  • flexibility with good work-life balance
