API Gateway Engineer (Broadcom Layer 7)

We are looking for an experienced Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateway Engineer to operate and enhance our API Gateway infrastructure. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining APIs on the Broadcom Layer 7 (formerly CA API Gateway) platform, handling customer integration requests, and ensuring secure, stable, and scalable gateway operations.

Your ideal background and skillset  

• Solid experience operating Broadcom Layer 7 (CA API Gateway) in production environments

• Strong knowledge of API concepts, protocols (REST, SOAP), and security (OAuth2, JWT, MTLS)

• Experience writing Layer 7 assertion policies (via Policy Manager or RESTman API)

• Familiarity with TLS/cert management, key rotation, and secure communications

• Proficient with scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and automation tooling

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and API deployment practices

• Comfortable working with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)

• Strong analytical skills and a service-oriented mindset

Your responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateway infrastructure (on-prem (Debian appliance form factor) and/or cloud) and accompanying DICOS API gateway manger container appliance

• Onboard and configure new APIs per internal/external customer requirements

• Develop and maintain assertion-based policies (routing, transformation, auth, throttling, etc.)

• Manage API lifecycle (design, deployment, deprecation)

• Integrate with identity and access management (OAuth2, JWT, Mutual TLS)

• Monitor system health, performance, and error rates; implement alerting and observability

• Manage TLS certificates, key stores, and trust stores

• Automate operational tasks using scripting or CI/CD pipelines

• Collaborate with InfoSec to enforce security and compliance standards
