Role Summary 
This is a staff engineer position within the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE) department of the Research & Development Solutions org (R&DSIT). 
This SRE is responsible for the design and implementation of a hybrid cloud strategy including both public cloud (AWS) and on-premises deployments to support distributed software systems that serve an array of scenarios related to clinical trials and other lines of IQVIA’s pharma/tech business. 

This is a highly collaborative role working in partnership with peer SREs, IT groups and software engineering teams to stand-up environments, deploy applications, establish metrics, and achieve infrastructure performance and stability targets. As a staff engineer you will be empowered to identify best ways to contribute your time and effort for maximum ROI/impact.

The ideal candidate is more than an infrastructure specialist but also an experienced software engineer and able to participate in design, development and leadership activities.

Responsibilities:


  • Consultation and collaboration with software development teams
  • Actively participate in Agile practices
  • Assist with infosec assessments
  • Work with cloud infrastructure providers
  • Configure deployment automation frameworks
  • Establish best practices for consistency among software development teams
  • Continuous improvement, take proactive steps to improve product quality and process efficiency
  • Research current and emerging industry tools and techniques and share these findings with colleagues
  • Consistently deliver robust, high-quality, reliable engineering outcomes in cross functional autonomous scrum teams 
  • Drive curiosity and innovation 
  • Lead cross-team exercises, including DevOps incident management bridges 
  • Lead documentation efforts for product architecture and security compliance 
  • Lead security assessments and product readiness evaluation 
  • Mentor interns, apprentices, and other engineers

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant collaborative software engineering experience 
  • Linux experience with the ability to configure environments through the use of software tools
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, AWS, GitLab
  • Solid understanding of microservices and restful services
  • Solid understanding of relational database management systems
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of product development lifecycle 
  • Experience deploying code into production through CI/CD tools (not just “CI/CD Pipeline”)
