Your career opportunity
As part of the Financial Engineering, you will be in charge of accelerated development of prototypes that could materially influence the process of risk analysis and risk measurement at HSBC. You will contribute to all aspects of programming work—within potentially several prototyping teams—in the construction and testing of analytic platforms.
What you’ll do
- Application development and improvement of the consistency of risk model development across HSBC.
- Streamlining the operational profile of model development projects (reducing costs, time and the risk of project failure).
- Improvement of the model deployment process, fostering innovation in risk measurement and prototyping modern processes of model development.
- Collaboration with other developers, data analysts and modellers across the team to actively utilise methods for managing the development of software.
- Maintenance of technical documentation throughout prototyping and core development processes.
- Contribution to creating an open, problem-solving environment and active participation in decision-making processes.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Solid experience in applications development using an object oriented programming language (e.g. Java, C++, C# or Python).
- Solid experience of building and testing applications in a professional environment.
- Some experience programming in a mathematical or engineering technical environment (such as MATLAB).
- Knowledge of common design patterns.
- Strong knowledge of testing principles.
- MSc or PhD in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research and/or Information Systems or equivalent.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to have
- Experience in Agile environment with preferably some experience with continuous integration practices.
- Knowledge of algorithms for capturing and processing large datasets (e.g. Map/Reduce).
- Knowledge of machine learning and pattern recognition techniques.
- Experience working with non-traditional database architectures (such as column free/NoSQL/graph-theoretic structures).
