Your career opportunity

The Lending Value Stream designs & builds digital features for millions of retail banking customers around the world, allowing them to get access to credit to pursue their financial goals. We’re a team of product managers, developers, analysts, UX writers and product designers, based in the UK, Poland, India, Hong Kong, China.

You’ll be responsible for leading a small design team within the Lending Value Stream, designing crucial Card servicing and Borrow journeys for customers across all our markets. Your team will be creating, enhancing, and scaling digital features on browser and in the app, reducing the need for customers to visit the branch, saving tonnes of paper, and reducing the operational costs of the bank.

You’ll be leading by example, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create world class experiences for our customers. 

What you’ll do

  • Gather business requirements, transforming them into customer needs.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder relationships, from business, engineering, and analysts to design systems, research, and brand - taking them on a journey with you.
  • Oversee the quality of design solutions, playing a key role in design governance, reviewing journeys, and identifying experience risks and opportunities.
  • Provide individual and team-level coaching and feedback, helping the design team achieve their personal objectives and pave the way for progression.
  • Review UX flows, prototypes and pixel perfect UI using the HSBC design system.
  • Host workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders and designers
  • Continually support global design, creating consistent experiences across all HSBC locations and platforms, ensuring a consistent experience, no matter where our customers bank with us.
  • Ensure our experience principles are embedded in everything we design.

What you need to have to succeed in this role

  • Experience in Product Design, and hold an impressive design portfolio, showcasing a range of projects and your approach to problem solving.
  • Experience leading a design team within a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to transfer your ideas to UX flows and prototypes at speed.
  • Experience building products for Android, iOS, and web.
  • Strong visual design skills. A deep understanding of design systems, pixel perfect UI and interaction design
  • Strong understanding and application of user-centred design methods and principles
  • Experience working and collaborating with a diverse team with multiple stakeholders.
  • A qualification in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or the equivalent professional experience.
