Network Engineer

Location: 100% remote work 


Tasks
•    Implement multi-vendor network service platforms according to standard architecture
•    Prepare planning documentation for installation and configuration of network equipment
•    Deliver edge and backbone upgrades to existing production networks
•    Work with project managers, datacentre teams, vendors, and external partners to complete installation of new equipment and infrastructure
•    Use platform scripting tools to generate new and incremental configurations applied to network equipment
•    Connect new equipment to the management network and onboard it to backend NMS systems
•    Connect and activate new infrastructure and integrate new network platforms into regional network backbones
•    Carry out pre-production testing and validation in preparation for operational handover
•    Produce required project and operational support documentation
•    Work with hardware vendors, suppliers, and internal service validation teams to resolve pre-production issues
•    Carry out scheduled out-of-hours maintenance activities according to change management policy
•    Perform network configuration management tasks
•    Support service decommissioning of old equipment
•    Support the Service Management team with tier 3 fault escalations
•    Document processes and technical procedures to support continual service improvement within the Global Enterprise Networks team


Requirements
•    Strong experience as a network engineer, ideally from an enterprise environment
•    Previous experience working on large production networks in a project-based implementation role
•    Experience in migrating networks to new hardware
•    Strong knowledge of eBGP, OSPF, LACP, VLANs, and firewalls
•    Experience working with Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto technologies
•    Experience with network automation tooling and Python is desirable
•    Previous experience in tier 2 and tier 3 network support
•    Experience with datacentre installations
•    Vendor certifications such as JNCIA or CCNA
