Job description

Online interview
Datashake is building a data layer for the Internet, turning scraped data into intelligent data. We are API-first and build tools for developers, ranging from software engineers to quants and data scientists.

Datashake is part of Shake Ventures, an established business with thousands of paying customers and a team of 15. We're searching for a full-time Python Engineer (remote) that can help build out our existing APIs. Being bootstrapped (not venture-backed) and fully remote, we don’t strive for growth at all costs, and are building a company that we can be proud of, and enjoy working for.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 2+ years of Python experience
  • Experience working with Redis and Celery queues
  • A passion for delivering highly maintainable and scalable code
  • An appreciation for data quality and consistency

Nice to have:

  • Experience creating products for developers, data engineers and/or data consumers
  • Experience with high volume scraping (eg. rotating IPs, CAPTCHAs)
  • Experience with ElasticSearch
  • A keen eye for detail, striving for perfection
  • Self-starter who is able to take ownership of projects

In a typical day, you will:

  • Refactor code to improve our logic
  • Add new functionality to our APIs
  • Write understandable API documentation (internal or external)
  • Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to our product development
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across our scraping

Our team is fully-remote and we communicate primarily through Slack, Asana and a few short, weekly meetings via Hangout — we believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time that’s free of distractions.
  • $36k - 48k salary (USD)
  • 26 days of holidays
  • Co-work expenses covered
  • $500 / year learning budget
