The purpose of the role is to design and build solutions to ingest data from variety of sources into Data and Analytics platform on AWS, as well as to lead the end-to-end planning, design, build, release and delivery of reports, applications, tools, and integrations using Data and Analytics Platforms at Alcon for Vision Care International Marketing Group.
As part of the IMG VC development team, you will work with business and technical stakeholders to understand Analytics needs and create, support, or enhance Analytics products that align with Alcon’s Data and Analytics strategy and standards.
What can you expect?
- As part of the IMG VC development team you will perform data engineering tasks to ingest data from various sources into data lake solution on AWS Cloud
- Lead the end-to-end planning, design, build, release, and delivery of data and analytics solutions
- Deliver business solutions on Alcon’s analytics platform through end-to-end implementation that includes data security, governance, cataloging, preparation, automated testing, and data quality metrics.
- Automate, optimize, migrate and enhance existing solutions.
- Perform data modeling, data analysis and provide insights using various tools.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand needs and ensure that designs, prototypes, and solutions meet business and technical requirements
- Support setup and continuous improvement in application development lifecycle management
- Network with database owners to map available and useful data points
What we expect from you:
- At least 4 years of experience in data engineering which includes data ingestion, preparation, curation, provisioning, automated testing, and quality checks.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Big Data and Analytics Technologies (Big Data cloud platforms, Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses)
- At least 3 years of experience in languages to ingest data is a must – SQL, Java, Python, & Scala
- Expertise in RDBMS, both on-premise and cloud (AWS RDS, Redshift, Snowflake, Oracle, MS SQL Server)
- Knowledge of AWS Services like Glue, EMR, S3, SNS, SQS, Athena, Redshift, Lamda and Step functions
- Familiarity with Visualization and Reporting Tools like Tableau, Salesforce Einstein Analytics and QlikSense
- Experience with performing data modelling including conceptual, logical, and physical
- Data savvy individual with hands-on experience in preparing, analyzing and deriving insights from data
- Ability to perform activities with an understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle of data and how to use and manage data to support transactional and analytics solutions
- Knowledge of enterprise data management concepts, principles, and practices as related to master data, reference data, and/or metadata as well as data governance.
- Strong project and stakeholders management skills
- Fluent English - we are a global team, so a very good command of English is a must
- Excellent communication skills

- Experience in working as a part of an Agile team and using tools such as Jira and Confluence desirable
