International Data Technology Lead

As a member of our international infrastructure and operations team, you will work with teams across our organisation who develop and operate infrastructure supporting our online payment product offerings.

What you will be doing

You will lead a team of data technology administrators and engineers, providing operational and engineering support for our database estate across all managed international platforms.

What You’ll Do

• Be the key point of contact for the International Data technology team; driving technical and business delivery roadmaps

• Support the design of robust and scalable database solutions that align with the organizations data strategy, business goals and to solve operational issues

• Ensuring database platforms align with best practices in internal and external security and compliance

• Lead and collaborate with with cross functional teams (including developers, infrastructure and networks engineers) to ensure the successful implementation of database solutions

• Provide mentorship and guidance to a team of high skilled data technology professionals

• Acts as an escalation point for critical tickets and service-affecting issues confidently taking control of situations and leading to a successful resolution

• Serve as a critical resource on project work, contributing to the design and supervision of the implementation phase of project

• Seek out areas for improvement and use your initiative to design and implement creative and scalable solutions

Who You Are

• Strong leader with at least 3 years of experience on team/people development

• 10 years of experience on database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle and Cassandra

• Familiarity with cloud-based databases such as Google Cloud SQL, Amazon RDS, Azure SQL would be beneficial

• Familiarity with data transfer and streaming technologies

• Experience supporting Data warehousing technologies and teams

• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively with stakeholders

• Strong experience working within 24/7/365 business-critical systems

• Ability to drive efficiency through automation

• Security experience with prior exposure to working in a PCI Compliant environment

• Experience working with key operational processes such as Change Management, Lifecycle Management, Patch Management, etc

• Analytical and solution-oriented approach to diagnosing and resolving database challenges with a problem-solving mindset

• High standards for accuracy, security, and performance optimization

• A drive to proactively identify and implement improvements in database operations

• Ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Works well across departments, aligning database strategies with business objectives

• Keeps up-to-date with emerging database technologies and best practices with a passion for technology

• Ability to think about the impact of actions on internal and external customers

• Computer Science or similar third-level qualification
