About the role:

We aim to disrupt the TV industry by introducing TiVo OS – a brand new, content-centric operating system for Smart TVs, based on the legendary American TiVo brand! As a Principal Engineer in the Platform Services team, you will contribute to ensuring our system is highly-performing, robust, secure, and scalable across various hardware. This team focuses on critical components such as software updates, system diagnostics, backward compatibility, and performance. You will get an opportunity to work in an international environment and collaborate with other teams spread across Europe, America, and Asia.

This technical role is focused on architecting and developing system-wide functionalities, high-performing native applications (services) that are part of middleware integrated on ARM-based embedded Linux platforms.

What you do:

  1. Act as a Principal/Lead engineer to design and build a complete system targeted for smart TVs
  2. Design and develop the framework for the system’s scalability across multiple SoC platforms, hardware variants, consumer brands, and device models
  3. Contribute to customizations in low-level Linux components: bootloader, kernel, systemd
  4. Participate in regular code and design reviews of our Linux-based solutions
  5. Identify bottlenecks and bugs for a plethora of platforms and device solutions
  6. Create and maintain technical specifications and documentation
  7. Contributing to R&D proof-of-concepts
  8. Work in an international environment with various teams across the globe
  9. Being self-reliant, with a proactive approach, and willingness to share your knowledge with peers

Who we are looking for:

Must have:

  1. At least 10 years of experience with C, C++
  2. At least 7+ years of experience with Linux-based embedded systems
  3. 10+ years of working experience with object-oriented designs
  4. Solid knowledge of SW design patterns, architectures, and best practices
  5. Experience with modern C++11, C++17 standards, libraries
  6. Experience with Linux kernel customization
  7. Experience developing and creating automated test frameworks
  8. Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and practices in software development
  9. Experience with project & delivery tools (eg, Gerrit, Github, Jira, Confluence)
  10. Good coding practices (static and dynamic analysis)
  11. Ability to understand and contribute to high-level designs, UMLs, and API definitions
  12. Excellent communication, leadership, and troubleshooting skills
  13. Fluent and efficient communication in English (spoken and written)

Nice to have:

  1. Experience in Python and Linux shell scripting
  2. Experience with Linux performance tools and security models
  3. Experience with Yocto Linux distribution
  4. Experience in Smart TV product certification
  5. Experience in building hardened products for mass production
  6. Solid knowledge of HTML and web standards
  7. Working experience with Jenkins and CI/CD
