About the position

As a Senior DevOps Engineer within the Advanced Analytics team, you will be the primary owner of CI/CD pipelines and application delivery workflows that enable Backend Engineers, ML Engineers, and other development teams to ship AI-enabled services reliably and at speed. You will work closely with Platform Engineers who own the underlying cloud infrastructure, focusing your energy on the developer-facing delivery layer — from pipeline design and build automation to deployment strategies, release quality gates, and developer tooling. In this role, you will be a force multiplier for engineering teams, reducing friction in the path from code to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions — including self-hosted runners, reusable workflows, matrix builds, and secrets management — as the primary delivery mechanism for all application teams.

• Own GitOps deployment workflows using ArgoCD: manage application definitions, sync strategies, rollback procedures, and progressive delivery patterns (blue/green, canary).

• Partner with Backend and ML Engineers to integrate automated testing (unit, integration, contract, performance) and quality gates into delivery pipelines.

• Manage container build pipelines: Dockerfile standards, multi-stage builds, image tagging strategies, and publishing to Azure Container Registry (ACR) with security scanning.

• Implement and maintain release management practices: versioning standards, changelog automation, environment promotion workflows, and deployment approval gates.

• Develop and maintain developer-facing tooling, templates, and scaffolding to standardize and accelerate service delivery.

• Collaborate with Platform Engineers on environment configuration, Kubernetes deployment manifests, Helm charts, and Kustomize overlays.

• Integrate security practices into pipelines: SAST, dependency scanning, container vulnerability scanning, and secrets detection.

• Maintain and improve build and deployment observability: pipeline dashboards, failure alerting, and DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate).

• Support incident response by enabling fast, reliable rollbacks and hotfix delivery paths; conduct post-incident reviews and implement pipeline-level preventative improvements.

• Document delivery standards, pipeline patterns, and runbooks; act as the go-to resource for engineering teams on CI/CD and release best practices.

Required Experience & Skills

• 6+ years of professional experience in DevOps, CI/CD engineering, or a closely related role.

• Expert-level GitHub Actions: self-hosted runners, composite actions, reusable workflows, OIDC-based authentication, and workflow optimization.

• Strong GitOps experience with ArgoCD or Flux: application management, sync policies, secrets handling, and multi-environment promotion.

• Solid understanding of containerization: Docker, multi-stage builds, image security best practices, and container registries (ACR or equivalent).

• Working knowledge of Kubernetes from a deployment perspective: manifests, Helm charts, Kustomize, namespaces, and resource configuration.

• Familiarity with Azure cloud services relevant to delivery: ACR, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Azure DevOps.

• Experience integrating automated testing frameworks and code quality tools (pytest, SonarQube, Trivy, Snyk, OWASP dependency check) into pipelines.

• Proficiency in scripting for automation: Python or Bash for pipeline tooling, release scripts, and developer utilities.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform, Bicep) to collaborate effectively with Platform Engineers.

• Strong communication skills: able to document standards clearly and support engineering teams of varying DevOps maturity.

• Hands-on proficiency with Claude Code as an active coding assistant for pipeline scripting, automation tooling, and developer utility development.
