    About the role

As a sole Product designer you will be working for Transcend Retail Solutions, a subsidiary of Tesco, set up to sell the same solutions deployed by Tesco powering their $8bn grocery online business. With world leading efficiency and scale, we are on a mission to help other retailers around the world create online businesses that their customers, colleagues, and stakeholders love.

You will be responsible for the end to end design experience for Transcend products, catering for the varying needs of our customers. You will work with colleagues both in Transcend and our customers to shape new and existing enterprise products.

But what ingredients make the perfect candidate?

You have a real curiosity for how things work and a true passion for design, with extensive experience creating user-centred digital experiences.

Complex challenges are a piece of cake. You use your deep knowledge of design-thinking to drive the solutions you create. And you can present your work with confidence to stakeholders at every level of seniority.

Your secret ingredient is your passion for understanding people, their motivations, how they behave, and the challenges they face. All of this will help you always do what’s right for our users and clients.

    You will be responsible for

    • Lead on large and small projects from start to finish, redefining complicated user experiences into simple and intuitive solutions.
    • Own the end-to-end design process from understanding the problem space and prioritising opportunities, through to exploring potential solutions, prototyping and validating with users.
    • Champion human-centered design with your stakeholders and the wider business. Help other disciplines understand the value design can bring to our products.
    • Work within and across Agile squads to design, develop and improve the user experience across our digital products.
    • Work in partnership with Product Managers to understand and define user problems and to build testable hypotheses that improve the user experience.
    • Work with UX researchers to conduct discovery and design validation research with users, including activities such as user interviews, A/B testing, usability testing and surveys.
    • Collaborate with different disciplines. You will work closely with other UI designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to explore, build and deliver designs.
    • Promote and produce design executions that use inclusive design principles and align with W3C accessibility guidelines.
    • Use and promote data-driven decision making within your work, and when measuring the impact of your achievements
    • Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders and user groups.
    • Utilize Figma to design and prototype user interfaces, ensuring seamless user experiences.
    • Consistently deliver high-quality, impactful work while maintaining efficiency and upholding design standards.
    • Collaborate with the design system team to enhance and expand the design system based on user needs.

    You will need

    • 5+ years product design experience.
    • A strong portfolio demonstrating experience in design thinking methodologies and expertise across web, responsive and native apps.
    • Passion for solving business and user problems while balancing all facets of a user experience, including strategy and research, information architecture, interaction design and accessibility.
    • Detailed understanding of the end-to-end iterative design process including how to develop and use design research, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping, and user testing to achieve human-centered design solutions.
    • Proficiency with current industry design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro.
    • Proficiency in interaction design for web (desktop and mobile) and native applications.
    • Experience working with design systems.
    • Ability to use both quantitative and qualitative insight to inform decision-making.
    • Experience of designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 level AA.
    • Experience at carrying out user research, including interviews, observation, and usability testing.
    • Experience collaborating closely with multiple disciplines including product and engineering.
    • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and subject areas within the organization.
    • Ability to coach, mentor and set standards for ways of working for more junior team members.
    • Self-motivated and organised with good time management skills.
    • Previous experience in the retail sector or working on enterprise products is an advantage.
    • Able to travel nationally and globally.
