Job description

About us

Tesco is a leading multinational retailer, with more than 330 000 colleagues.

Our software is used by millions of people across several countries every day. Whether it’s the tills and websites our customers use, or the systems our colleagues and partners use, you’ll play your part in keeping it running like a well-oiled machine. And when a business problem pops up? You and the creative minds in our team will be challenged to solve it.

As Tech Hub we cooperate within the group of Tesco Technology Hubs located in the UK, Poland, Hungary, and India.

What our colleagues like the most at Tesco:

  • We develop our own products

  • We make an impact; large scale of operation

  • Accountability and respect are given to us

  • We cooperate and support each other

  • There are great colleagues who are divided into small teams here

  • We can develop and learn new things

About the role

The purpose of the Colleague Transformation programme is to earn the trust of our colleagues in a simple and helpful way. The programme aims to provide colleagues with a better experience of working at Tesco, enhanced by technology that’s accessible anywhere and available to everyone. By reducing admin, our Managers and People Partners will be able to focus on building teams and capability, and our Colleagues will be able to be more productive and focus on building their skills and careers.

We are looking for a Product Manager to take ownership of our platform and login experience, driving performance, scalability, and usability across our core infrastructure. You will lead product strategy and execution, working cross-functionally with engineering, design, data, and security teams. Your work will ensure that our users have a seamless, secure, and reliable entry point into our ecosystem, while also enabling internal teams to build effectively on our platform.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the platform and login experience, with a focus on performance, reliability, and user experience.

  • Defining and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as login success rate, time-to-login, platform uptime, and authentication-related user retention.

  • Collaborating closely with engineering to ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and performant, especially during high-traffic periods.

  • Driving improvements to authentication flows, including multi-factor authentication (MFA), single sign-on (SSO), and session management.

  • Partnering with design and research to deliver frictionless and intuitive login experiences across web and mobile platforms.

  • Leading on implementation of Google Analytics, creation of dashboards and using these insights to inform the product roadmap.

  • Ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards related to authentication and user data.

  • Working with engineering to define, document, and maintain platform standards and best practices in Confluence, ensuring they are accessible, up-to-date, and actionable.

  • Driving internal education and awareness of platform standards through onboarding materials, workshops, and proactive engagement with product and engineering teams.

  • Acting as a thought leader and subject matter expert on platform and identity topics, influencing cross-functional teams and aligning stakeholders around shared goals.

Qualifications

You will need

  • Extensive experience as a Product Manager, ideally working on platforms, authentication systems, or core infrastructure.

  • Understanding of identity and access management (IAM), including protocols like OAuth, SAML, and OpenID Connect, as well as MFA and SSO implementations.

  • Proven track record of improving platform performance, reliability, and scalability, including collaboration with engineering on SLAs and observability.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and user behavior to inform product decisions and drive measurable outcomes.

  • Experience working with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001) in the context of authentication and user data.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain technical documentation, and to drive internal adoption of platform standards.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority and align cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in Agile environments, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Unsure if you fit all the criteria? Apply and give us the chance to evaluate your potential – you could be the perfect fit!
