Job description

At TerraEye, we’re building the next generation of Earth intelligence tools.

Our company applies AI and satellite-based remote sensing to revolutionize how mineral exploration is done — faster, smarter, and at lower cost.

We’ve worked with leading mining and energy players such as International Resources Holding, Anglo American, Kuya Silver, and have developed award-winning prototypes recognized by the European Union Space Program (EUSPA).

Our focus: delivering actionable insights for exploration and environmental decision-making — combining Earth Observation, AI, and scalable cloud systems.

Our Mission

  • Unlock the full potential of Earth Observation (EO) and other Remote Sensing data for mineral exploration.

  • Apply AI to reduce data complexity and operational cost.

  • Deliver actionable insights that empower exploration and policy decisions.

  • Build tools that make exploration campaigns fast, efficient, and cost-effective.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a Cloud Developer to design, build, and scale the data infrastructure that powers TerraEye’s products and services.

This role sits at the intersection of geospatial engineering, cloud computing, and AI infrastructure, helping turn cutting-edge research into operational systems.

You’ll work closely with our R&D and AI teams to architect robust data pipelines, deploy services on the cloud, and help shape the future of how Earth data is processed and delivered.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop scalable geospatial services.

  • Write clean, production-grade Python code; architect data services leveraging STAC, Zarr, and Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs); deploy services on Azure and Kubernetes

  • Engineer robust backend systems.

  • Build and maintain data-intensive pipelines, integrate tools like vector search, and ensure automated workflows are reliable, maintainable, and accurate.

  • Transform algorithms into user-centric workflows.

  • Turn research prototypes into maintainable, test-covered services aligned with real client needs.

  • Guide technical direction with partners.

  • Help scope projects, identify opportunities for innovation, and navigate ambiguity when working with European research organizations and operational agencies.

  • Collaborate openly.

  • Engage with communities like GeoZarr, participate in open-source projects, write clear documentation, and contribute to discussions shaping geospatial data standards.

  • Mentor and document.

  • Share knowledge across the team, document architecture decisions, and advocate for sustainable, high-quality software practices.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focusing on data-intensive backend systems in production environments.

  • Expertise in Python, modern development practices, testing frameworks, and CI/CD workflows.

  • Cloud-native experience: Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and at least one major provider (Azure - preferred, AWS, , GCP).

  • Strong product thinking and communication skills — able to think beyond tickets, explain trade-offs clearly, and collaborate with both technical and non-technical partners.

Nice to Have

  • Strong familiarity with geospatial data and libraries such as Xarray, Zarr, GDAL, or rio-tiler.

  • Experience working with STAC, Zarr, or Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF (COG) formats.

  • Experience developing AI-driven architectures (LLMs, vector databases, RAG pipelines, LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.).

  • Background in product discovery and stakeholder engagement — defining requirements, exploring feasibility, and shaping project direction.

  • Contributions to open-source geospatial or AI projects.

  • Familiarity with scientific computing UX (e.g., JupyterHub, Binder).

  • Engagement with the open-source community (talks, blogs, or forums).

How We Work

  • We collaborate in the open. Clear GitHub issues, transparent Slack discussions, and constructive code reviews.

  • We care about the work and each other. We value feedback, shared learning, and mutual support.

  • We build sustainably. Quality and long-term impact matter more than rushed delivery.

  • We care about the real world. Our work supports science, sustainability, and public good.

What We Offer

  • Full-time permanent position with a competitive salary based on experience.

  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid/remote model (Wrocław HQ or Abu Dhabi).

  • A role at the core of TerraEye’s innovation strategy, shaping how Earth data is processed and delivered.

  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary, mission-driven team in a fast-scaling NewSpace company.
