Senior Data Architect
SwingDev—a hippo company is the Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company – Hippo Insurance. We’re here to make home insurance smarter and more proactive, using tech to bring fresh solutions. We also create digital products that support our customers, always focusing on what really makes an impact.
Putting a lot of effort into hiring top-tier devs, designers, PMs, and QAs, is a proof that we care a lot about tech experience, the attitude, human approach, and what we could call „culture fit”.
“SwingDev is all about people” - yes, it may sound a bit cliche. But whether we're writing code or just hanging out, we know that people are at the heart of everything we do. We like to have a good time and keep things light, even when we're tackling big projects. We could brag about what’s making us special, but we’ve boiled it down to two key ingredients: mature, companionable people who, rather than compete, prefer to inspire and have each other’s backs; a culture of trust, empathy, and positivity that keeps us together, lets us interact as teammates and friends, and truly enjoy the ride.
About the role:
As the Senior Data Architect, you'll be part of the center data function and will be at heart of establishing our company's data architecture and modeling foundations from ground up. This is a rare opportunity to build a modern, AI‑ready data ecosystem without legacy constraints–true greenfield work with full ownership.
You will design scalable data architecture across agency operations, homeowners policy systems, and our fronting carrier ecosystem. Your work will enable enterprise analytics, data products, and future AI use cases. We are seeking someone who is not just an expert, but also can have a strong influence on technical development direction, drive standards, and partner with senior engineers and business stakeholders.
What will you do?
Define and own enterprise-wide data architecture and modeling standards.
Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models across our core business domains.
Build our modern data platform – pipelines, lakehouse/warehouse layers, and medallion‑architected datasets.
Create scalable, AI‑ready data environments that support analytics, data products, and future AI/ML initiatives.
Partner with engineers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to ensure data is reliable, reusable, and secure.
Implement strong data governance, observability, and cataloging to enable true self‑service and support data mesh principles.
Drive strategic technical decisions, influencing platform and tooling choices with a modern, cloud‑native mindset.
Translate complex data and AI concepts into simple, compelling narratives for non‑technical audiences.
Advise on emerging AI architectures, including RAG patterns and enterprise AI agents.
Shape a healthy, modern, future‑proof data environment from the ground up – without technical debt.
We might be a match if you…
Bring 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or analytics engineering.
Have strong hands‑on experience with modern data platforms and modeling techniques, as wel as cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and tools like Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or Snowflake.
Know how to build data warehouses, lakehouses, pipelines, and large‑scale data ecosystems.
Understand how to design AI‑ready data foundations that support analytics and ML.
Are familiar with medallion architecture, data governance, observability, and data catalogs.
Act as a decisive technical expert who can guide senior engineers and influence architectural direction.
Communicate exceptionally well, using storytelling to simplify complex topics.
Feel comfortable shaping standards, and best practices from scratch.
Stay curious about things like RAG, enterprise AI agents, and modern data architecture patterns.
Care about security, responsible data practices, and maintaining a high quality bar.
Operate as a self‑starter with an ownership mindset, able to establish architecture and modeling practices with minimal oversight.
Have a great command of English and Polish (both written & spoken).
Are flexible around the afternoons – we prioritize everyone’s personal time and work-life fit, but since we work in PL-US teams, occasional evening meetings may be necessary to ensure smooth communication across time zones.
(Nice to have) Bring experience from large organizations with mature architecture teams or from insurance.
