Senior Ruby Engineer

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Ruby Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client prioritizes people in the digital employee experience to help companies grow. Requirements:

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in API integration and maintenance.

• 6+ years of experience with Ruby and Postgres.

• 5+ years of experience building reliable and performant microservices.

• Knowledge of JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.

• Knowledge of AWS.

• Experience with Redis.

• Knowledge of the IaC concept and basic experience with Terraform

• Familiarity with API protocols and standards, including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and JSON.

• Experience working with the enterprise project with multiple APIs.

• Understanding of API testing tools and methodologies.

• Understanding of authentication methods like OAuth, API keys, and JWT.

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot API and integration issues.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work with the stakeholders in and outside of the organization.

• Eagerness to learn lots of new technologies.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field of study, or commensurate experience required.

• Upper-intermediate level of English.

Nice to have:

• Experience in front-end development.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.

• Familiarity with ML and AI.

• Experience working for an enterprise SaaS organization.

• Open-source contributions and a history of side projects.

  
  

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend API integration requirements, data formats, and workflow processes.

• Architect integrations between various software systems, including third-party and internal APIs.

• Provide database improvements.

• Develop reliable, readable, efficient, testable, scalable, and maintainable code. Provide thorough code reviews, create comprehensive tests, and produce quality documentation.

• Perform extensive testing of API integrations to verify functionality, data accuracy, and error handling.

• Apply robust security measures and authentication protocols to safeguard sensitive data during integration.

• Develop detailed documentation for APIs and integrations, including technical specifications, usage guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures.

• Oversee integration performance, promptly identify and resolve issues, and provide ongoing maintenance and support.

• Handle API versioning and upgrades while maintaining backward compatibility when necessary.

• Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and project managers, to ensure successful integration projects.

• Stay informed about the latest API technologies, best practices, and industry trends to continually enhance integration processes.
