Senior Back End Engineer

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client is a leading multinational company in the building materials industry. 

You'll integrate the internal data platform with the broader service ecosystem and support AI tooling in production. Also, you'll work across Python and TypeScript, own service integration end-to-end, and contribute to GenAI pipelines where needed without being expected to build AI from scratch. 

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering.

• Strong knowledge of Python and TypeScript in a server-side context.

• Hands-on experience integrating services across different stacks (REST, messaging, event-driven, etc.).

• Understanding how to read, critique, and produce architectural diagrams and integration proposals.

• Familiarity with GenAI concepts (RAG, LLMs, embeddings) and experience supporting AI tools in production.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems: observability, caching, failure handling.

Nice to have:

• Experience with FastAPI or Flask in production environments.

• Exposure to data platform architecture or internal tooling.

• Familiarity with Redis, vector databases, or embedding pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Integrate the internal data platform with internal and external services across diverse tech stacks and protocols.

• Design and document service integrations; produce clear architectural proposals and diagrams.

• Build and maintain backend services in Python (FastAPI/Flask) and TypeScript.

• Support GenAI tooling in production, including RAG pipelines, observability, and reliability improvements.

• Collaborate with platform, data, and product teams to align on contracts, interfaces, and delivery.

• Identify and resolve integration bottlenecks; ensure maintainability and clear service boundaries.
