Data Curation and Automation Engineer

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Data Curation and Automation Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Europe. Our client is a technology company that provides marking, tracking, and printing solutions.  

Our primary goal is to hire a Technical Data Annotator. who can combine high-quality annotation work and automation. We are looking for someone who actively contributes to the entire data lifecycle, producing highly accurate and consistent annotation work and building scripts, automating workflows, improving dataset quality at scale. This role requires a proactive mindset, where the candidate takes ownership of datasets and continuously improves how data is processed, validated, and delivered.

The perfect candidate is:

• Junior or Middle Engineer who is comfortable writing Python scripts daily.

• A problem solver who can break down ambiguous tasks into clear, executable steps.

• Someone with a full ownership mindset, equally comfortable with manual precision work and technical automation.

Requirements

Core Competencies

• Ownership mindset and accountability for data quality and delivery;

• Ability to decompose complex problems into structured solutions;

• High attention to detail, especially when working with large datasets;

• Strong organizational and communication skills;

• Hands-on experience in data annotation is a significant plus.

Programming and Technical Skills

• 2+ years of experience with Python. This includes solid understanding of control structures, file I/O, and data structures;

• Experience with parsing and programmatically manipulating nested data formats (JSON, XML);

• Familiarity with essential Python libraries: Pandas, Numpy (data manipulation); OS, JSON, XML (data handling), PIL, cv2 (for image processing workflows).

Responsibilities

• Write Python scripts for data processing, data cleaning, and formatting;

• Develop parsing pipelines and simple automation for repetitive tasks;

• Process structured and semi-structured data (JSON, XML, etc.);

• Automate QC processes and validation pipelines to ensure data integrity;

• Annotate diverse data types (images, video, text) with high accuracy;

• Develop and refine annotation guidelines;

• Perform and oversee Quality Checks, ensuring consistency across datasets;

• Maintain clear documentation for datasets and workflows;

• Work across multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment;

• Prioritize tasks and adapt to changing requirements;

• Communicate progress and risks clearly to stakeholders.
