Job description

At STX Next, we are expanding our DevOps capabilities within a dynamic, engineering-focused environment. Our DevOps Performance Engineers play a critical role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of the systems we deliver. Collaborating closely with development, infrastructure, and QA teams, they help shape robust, high-performing platforms across diverse projects.

Although many of us work remotely, we stay strongly connected through active participation in technical initiatives and industry events related to DevOps, site reliability, and performance engineering. We value team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a culture of engineering excellence.

We take a comprehensive approach to performance engineering – from test execution to system observability – continuously evolving our tooling, practices, and automation. By leveraging performance testing, monitoring, and tuning, we help ensure our systems meet demanding business and user expectations. We actively adopt new technologies, including AI-driven insights and automation, to enhance system reliability and delivery velocity.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain performance testing frameworks and tools,
  • Execute performance tests and analyze metrics to detect bottlenecks and degradation,
  • Ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements,
  • Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to optimize system architecture and resource utilization,
  • Work with stakeholders to identify performance risks and proactively mitigate them,
  • Support observability efforts using metrics, logs, and traces to diagnose and resolve issues,
  • Participate in capacity planning, scalability assessments, and performance tuning,
  • Reproduce performance issues from production or client reports and drive resolution,
  • Actively participate in team and project meetings to align on goals and improvements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in performance engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related DevOps role,
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools: K6 (preferred), Gatling, JMeter, LoadRunner, BlazeMeter,
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB, DataDog, Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics,
  • Solid understanding of performance tuning, scalability principles, and capacity planning,
  • Experience working in Kubernetes and Docker environments, especially in regulated industries (e.g., telco, banking, pharma),
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins,
  • Scripting or coding in languages like Python, Bash, JavaScript, or TypeScript,
  • Basic SQL knowledge,
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress) is a plus,
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills,
  • Good command of English (min. B2),
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills,
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify, propose, and drive technical improvements in tooling and processes,
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving technical landscape.
